Put in a 32A power point, and it becomes an appliance.

Re: Battery Self Discharge Rate

the issue with keeping the 12v battery charged tends to have been whilst the car is off, is making sure the big battery doesn't get run down to 0v.
not impossible, but certainly challenging.

The big battery won't go flat in that time, but the 12v one might.

That's the one I would charge

the focus has a 0-5v hall pedal which is then fed to this: https://www.zeva.com.au/Research/DigitalPotAdapter/ The pot adapter is under the dash near the pedal, so not likely to have experienced moisture damage. It's probably worth measuring the output of the pot adapter (easiest at the hairball) to...

If you haven't already, charge the car up, then push the emergency stop button. That will stop the battery being discharged to nothing

Re: Motor voltage and RPM's

Motor voltage on a series would motor is a function of motor current and rpm. Increasing the battery voltage means the controller is now able to stay in motor current limit up to a higher rpm, leading to more power at high rpm. As a side note, your motor controller is more efficient at lower motor c...

on my zoe, pressing the plug release button on the car shuts down charging gracefully

given latching the plug is part of the type 2 standard, this should be common to all cars that take a type 2 plug

The earliest Zoes are around %80 at 7 years old (the 22kwh ones)
given they were the same chemisty as the leaf, it shows how much a difference thermal management makes

there might be a motor insulation element to it too - higher dc bus voltage means a higher dv/dt, which is harder on insulation

Re: Running PTC heater core under voltage range

no issues, would just put out less heat

their resistance changes with temp, so it probably won't be as much less as you might expect (ie 1/4 voltage would be 1/16 power if fixed resistance, but more likely would be only 1/4 power due to resistance also dropping)

Nope, just a zoe thing.

But to know for certain you'd have to measure different charge rates on each car

Re: New Zoe! Way to get the 15A ZE Ready Portable EVSE?

I was warned of battery problems if only charging at 10A regularly (and the manual https://ie.e-guide.renault.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/eng/X10/ZOE-979-14_ENG.pdf explicitly says it's for occasional use only). Yeah, there's no battery problems resulting from charging at 10A. It's more marketing ...

even 10A requires a good quality extension lead - minimum 1.5mm2 conductor size

being able to plug in just about anywhere is great though

Re: Zoe Charging at ChargeFox

sadly, the type 2 lead isn't an extension, the pins are purposely recessed so it can only be plugged into a charge station

Not all CCS2 stations will actually supply AC to the plug - CCS2 is generally only used on DC charge stations, which the Zoe can't use

Jsvader - are your kwh/100km figures quoted by the car? or are you measuring on recharge (AC pulled from the wall)?

The later is generally used for comparing EV efficiency, as it includes all the round trip losses
