A closer look at the volt RCD tripping issue

Hi all .. I appreciate the questions., and am just an end user. I paid a sparky to test. I paid a sparky to set up two charge points in the process for EV users. I do not intend to spendmore money ,as I have repeatedly spelled out, Clipper Creek asks for a 20 amp circuit. As i have had problems with...

A closer look at the volt RCD tripping issue

Hi, I loaned the Clipper Creek evse from Joseph in WA. It came with a 15 amp plug on it. The circuits I tested on , for Joseph. 1. an all weather outdoor oulet, with a switch , wired to a breaker 15amp combined with RCD 2. The other is an all weather outdoor outlet , with a switch, wired to a 20 amp...

ok, so after a few days of testing, I also have the clipper creek not charging my Volt. That is, not on a 15 amp circuit! So I had a 20 amp circuit put in next to the 15 amp. It charges every time. So the conclusion is. The Clipper Creek is not faulty re charging the Volt. The Volt is also not fault...

"I think the 100 km spacings are OK to start with" Ok, thanks for that .. I'll start working on that. Two outlets at each stop would be prefereable, but hey I was happy to just get two places to allow EV charging to begin with.. "In the meantime, gaining permission from businesses along a route to u...

Business Owners who are EV charging friendly. These woudld be people who recognise the value in having ev users as customers, and who do not "force" an ev owner to "buy" a service. eg. The Alpine Resort Motel at jindabyne NSW , does not require an EV driver to stay overnight, to charge their car. Ne...

Well looking at the charging network inrastructure for EV's, and reading posts from Imiev, Leaf, Owner Conversions etc, I have been thinking about how slow charging is going to be rolled out in Autralia, and have a few comments . So for businesses that may wish to participate, as in provide ev's wit...

ok. . Did not notice or pay attention to mains Voltage at the time, nor the battery Voltage. Maybe the max current input is in fact 16 amps, not 15. Thanks for your input! http://forums.aeva.asn.au/smileys/smiley2.gif If I get the chance when the sparky works next I will see if I can test more, but ...

Two New charge poles - iMiEV - Forrestfield, WA

Does anyone know if the Bollards or any public charging stations need a swich for on / off on outside installations? or are they just plug n play? Was told that an outside EV charging in NSW, may require an outlet with an on/off switch as well as being IP rated ... had hoped to pay for one of these ...

"yet Marty's volt is drawing 16A my volt draws around 14-15A" Hi again, Well what we did was the sparky was here to tag a brickies hoist in a contruction area, so we asked him to wire up a 20 amp circuit, single phase, and attach a meter, then plug in the Clipper Creek. It started at 14.5 amps, but...

no sorry, cannot test on 15 amp circuit.. I do not have one! Only 10 amps and now 20amps...and I might be putting a second 20 amp one in later. (Rather than 1 x 20, and one x 15 ) I had to pay to have a 20amp circuit installed, and as it says to use a 20 amp circuit on the clipper creek web site, I ...

thats ok! Thanks for letting me try it. So when I send it back to you, will you use it? Around your area, are their any 20 amp circuits you could use? Would you pay like me, to put a 20 amp circuit into your sub-board at home? My job might involve travel overseas soon, so I have already let out my h...

Hiya Gabz .. Yes please come and take a look! Electrician is telling me one 20 amp circuit and one 15 amp circuit will be good, (One 15 amp for Volt etc , 20 amp for BEV's or the odd Volt with a Clipper Creek) These two circuits are "spare " from previous Hot Water circuits, which are no longer need...

ok, it is true. 20 amp circuit (single phase) does not trip the rcd. Paid for a sparky to come out and test the clipper creek. It is charging at 16 amps (Measured) on a 20 amp circuit just fine. Will send back the evse Clipper Creek to WA. All works well. In a 20 amp circuit, not a 15 amp circuit. R...

and that is 10% on the retail price at the pump, so its like luxury tax on a necessity - which is just obscene. .you need petrol to travel to work in most situations. To me its like extortion. As in "Pay OR Else".

Netherlands reaches 23% new BEV+ PHEV's

Probably the first Country to reach almost tipping point. One in Four new car registrations is either a PHEV or a BEV.   (Most are PHEV) . So in that country almost every person knows someone, who has bought either a BEV or a PHEV, and so the population there is getting used to electric vehicles of ...

BEV Sales in US up 241 % over 2012 figures

And off the Rocket goes! BEV Sales Skyrocket "Led largely by the booming sales of the Nissan LEAF and the Tesla Model S, BEV sales in the US shot up by 241% in 2013, as compared to 2012. Sure, some additional BEVs hit the market in 2013 that weren’t available in 2012, but that fact of the matter is ...

Yes I know what you mean. Manufacturing for most electrical products now is made overseas, but if it's made to Australian Standards, (and that website states approved in Australia and New Zealand) I would think it should be ok. It is also IP rated for outdoor use. Sometimes a really expensive price ...

Thanks Coulomb and everyone, Hows this one .. not a bad price for an outdoor waterproof one to stick on the external wall facing the car park? What do you think?
