Re: PIP-4048MS and PIP-5048MS inverters

Hi Mantas . If you want to have any chance of paralleling the new machine with the old ones, you must not buy a 64 V machine. That means you must not buy a PIP-5048MS. You need an Axpert MKS 5K that does not have the 64 V option, or a rebadged equivalent such as the Mecer SOL-I-AX-5P (not the SOL-I-...

Re: PIP-4048MS and PIP-5048MS inverters

@Mantas I just realised you have another (and better) option, that doesn't require you to reflash the new clone. You can reflash the old inverter(s) with the same firmware that is in the clone, which I assume is LC1_72.70c.

Re: PIP-4048MS and PIP-5048MS inverters

Hi Mantas . Welcome to the forum. Thanks for giving all the needed detail up front, to enable us to help you. The replacement you have been supplied with, is not a rebranded Voltronic Power Axpert MKS 5K but a pirate copy or "clone". See Coulombs post: Do I Own a Clone? (Oh, moan!) . And I'm guessin...

Re: PIP-5048MK inverter

Thanks for this weber. Do you mean with the remark above other LFP's not being Pylontech, like 16s ones? Yes. The LFP flavour of patched firmware would be for LFPs other than Pylontech, whether 15S or 16S. It would also be for Pylontech if the inverter was made in 2018 and so could not communicate ...

Re: PIP-5048GE, PIP-5048GK and PIP-5048MG inverters (with unsafe SCC)

So despite the considerable gap from 71.40 to 71.71, it looks like it should work. I presume your model, being a PIP, has the 64 V option? (In other words, can setting 26 go past 58.4 V?) Yes, and I don't know of 5048 MG versions which don't do 64V, as they are quite recent, do you? When a model ha...

Re: PIP-5048MK inverter

Hi Weber thanks for the software Will this version be ok for Pylontech batteries LiFeP04 which usually come in 15S? Hi dekin. Thanks for the question. Yes, that will be fine, provided the inverter (PIP-5048MK or Axpert King 5K) is dated 2019 (or later) and you have set it up to communicate with the...

Re: PIP-5048MK inverter

Another consideration for you re MS vs MK vs GK is that they all come with the premature-float bugs . We have patched MS and MK (soon to be released) but not the GK, to fix those bugs. In that case my best option will be the MK and then use your to be released patch! Just to be absolutely clear: I ...

Re: PIP-4048MS and PIP-5048MS inverters

Is it possible to change the AC voltage from the default of 230v to 240v. Some posts on here seem to suggest it is by using POPV2400 command Yes, that's correct. but when I tried this it did nothing? Did you at least get a "(NAKss" in response? If not, how are you communicating with the inverter? W...

Re: PIP-4048MS and PIP-5048MS inverters

Once you have updated the firmware in your PIP, is it possible to revert back to the original (does the update create a backup of your existing firmware first) or is this a one way trip? No. Unfortunately, the update does not create a backup of your existing firmware. The existing firmware is copy-...

Re: PIP-5048MK inverter

You say you wouldn't recommend the GK. In the same way you wouldn't recommend the MG? That's correct. I've got my MG wired with a spd on the panel side and a RCCB type B on the AC side and that seems fine. What do you think? I think many people would be very grateful, if you (or your electrician if...

Re: PIP-5048MK inverter

I am about to create a system for a friend with some pylontech batteries and was looking at the MK and GK forums. Re: PIP-4048MS and PIP-5048MS inverters

I think the biggest hassle would be that the firmware will treat the battery as "weak" (with several implications, including a low battery warning and switching to bypass mode if possible) when the battery voltage drops to below 42.0 V (2.0 V above the low DC cutoff voltage, setting 29). It won't b...

A very typical batterie nominal voltage is 44,4V. Upper limit 50,2V, Lo...

Re: PIP-4048MS and PIP-5048MS inverters

So does the LC flavour [of the patched firmware] give a more realistic battery % indicator for Lithium Ion batteries on the front display? Marginally, in that the wild guess is a load compensated wild guess. The guessed SOC in percent is still basically the number of tenths of a volt above the DC l...

Re: How to tell a kilowatt hour from a kelvin week henry

Hmm. I just learned 3 good reasons why the next larger multiplier should not begin with X. 1. When you pronounce it, it will sound like it should be spelled with a Z, and so it can be confused with Z for zetta. 2. When you write a symbol X, some people will assume it is the symbol for "exa". 3. A sy...

I recommend you use 14S if at all possible. Replacing the capacitors and MOSFETs is a terrible job, and even the ...

Re: Prelude conversion project - some questions

The regen braking is good, but it's almost worth adding a switch which doesn't activate the brake lights. 5 or 6 kW isn't much braking power. It certainly feels like an auto in that will 'run on' once you are up to speed. So it will take some care and slight change in driving style. Is there any po...
