Re: IS IT POSSIBLE TO ADD ANOTHER LAYER OF BATTERIES?

Just thinking out loud again: I wonder if a Prius battery pack could be sat in the hatch/boot just for long trips... and taken out for charging and when you're just going around town ...

Re: PETROL STATION CHARGING?

What about another nationwide chain? ... I notice a lot of roadhouses have Maccas and KFC, usually open 24/7 ... much as I don't want to support fast food, I hate climate change even more ... they might want to build their enviro-cred ... even run the chargers on solar.

PETROL STATION CHARGING?

If you can't Beat 'em, Join 'em ... Has AEVA approached a major petrol station chain like BP, Caltex or Shell (or all of them) to see if they would become charging stops? I know it was hard to get them to accept E85 and biodiesel, but if they want to attract a growing segment of the motoring market ...

Re: TO BLADE, OR NOT TO BLADE?

Well, I am now the proud owner of Blade Electron #1 ... or so rumor has it ... built for the City of Melbourne in 2008 as a sample and started the Blade "Revolution" ... 19,500km on the clock ... new batteries ... absolutely mint condition ... It was thrilling to drive for the first time ... I haven...

Re: IS IT POSSIBLE TO ADD ANOTHER LAYER OF BATTERIES?

Matthew/antiscab ... Did you really create a plug-in Gen One Prius? That was a dream of mine ever since I saw the film WHO KILLED THE ELECTRIC CAR. I was told it was a waste of time. Another stupid question: I saw the UTS developed plug in Prius many years ago, and it was also a PLUG OUT ... you cou...

IS IT POSSIBLE TO ADD ANOTHER LAYER OF BATTERIES?

I'm just far enough from Melbourne to need to stop for a 40 minute quick charge along the way. Is it worth considering sacrificing some of the boot for more batteries?

Re: TO BLADE, OR NOT TO BLADE?

OK, I've decided TO Blade ... I'm flying up to NSW to test drive and maybe buy. I really have a good feeling. I am considering driving it all the way back to Castlemaine and documenting it as a little adventure. Wish me luck! BTW, it does have some documentation, incl. an engineers report. Ross Blad...

Re: TO BLADE, OR NOT TO BLADE?

I misread earlier, I thought you were planning on upgrading it, rather than it already being upgraded. Make sure you get a wiring diagram off the person who did the upgrade work. Out of curiosity, did they fit a larger battery? Any other details on what the upgrade entailed? I’ll find out what deta...

Why do I want to rebuild it? Don't I want to keep it as original as possible?

As far as I know, Ross lives in Sydney now. Last article I read made him, he seems a bit bitter about the whole thing. It's reminiscent of that movie TUCKER: THE MAN AND HIS DREAM ...

TO BLADE, OR NOT TO BLADE?

That is my question ... I am on the cusp of buying a Blade from NSW ... it's a 2009 and apparently an early model ... the owner thinks it was made for the City of Melbourne as a test. He also says it has had an "upgrade" and new batteries ... Am I just pursuing a pipe dream? I want to own an electri...

Re: LONG DISTANCES IN A BLADE

I have decided to challenge myself and drive 1000kms back to Castlemaine.

Will the Tesla charging stations get bolshi and not allow me to charge, even if I pay and have an adapter?

Re: LONG DISTANCES IN A BLADE

Plugshare is probably the most up-to-date list there is. If you take a 3 phase to single phase adapter you can access a few more charge points. The generator is probably unnecessary, and besides it takes up a lot of space. That makes a whole lot of sense ... the 3 phase to single phase adapter ... ...

Re: LONG DISTANCES IN A BLADE

No, I wouldn't be running the genni while driving! I just thought there are gaps in the PlugShare network. I could stop, boil the billy and charge with the generator. It only has a range of 75-80kms. Not sure this version ... it is a 2009, but has had an "upgrade" ... I live in Castlemaine where the...

LONG DISTANCES IN A BLADE

Newbie Question: Is it possible to range extend a Blade by carrying a little generator in the boot? I realise this is probably a dumb question ... I want to travel from Sydney to Melbourne. There don't seem to be enough public charging stations yet to make this a breeze. I know some people just pay ...
