Misc iMiev questions

As an update, I've been in touch with the makers of my ODBlink LX and they have identified some issues with the firmware of their chipset when used on Android, especially particular versions of Android (and some recent firmware updates for their Bluetooth chips). Long story short, they offered to se...

iMiev Safari Sydney to Brisbane

I've wanted to do a trip around Australia since I first visited here - I've been all around North America (mostly back when gas was $1/gal in the 90s - hey wait, it's back there now...) and I think if I just wait 5-6 more years, the battery capacity of a normal EV will make it pretty straightforward...

Ah, right - I read the manual but must've forgotten this. I'll go have another look, thanks!

Sixth-year servicing on the iMiev

Well I guess either way I'm good for a while. The Roadworthy inspection it got before I bought it last September (from a non-Mitsubishi garage) showed no problems, and I'm only up to about 16,000 kms (on track to put as much distance on it in my first year as it got the previous 5...) Aside from a m...

I'm having repair issue with Canion as well with my Galaxy Note 4. Havent looked into it but i would think it's the other profiles interfering.... Well I'll try using a separate device in the car to follow the ODBlink - I definitely use Bluetooth audio in the car for my podcasts (electric cars are ...

Tesla logo badge?

You could try a local jeweller? Interesting idea! I just remembered I know a guy who owns a forge, too - he mainly makes swords and wrought-iron fences/gates etc, but he might also have leads. it also comes down to what one you want Tesla logo badge Not so much - almost any of 'em would do. I have ...

Sixth-year servicing on the iMiev

Go down to a trusted (normal mechanic) and get him to put it on the hoist and go over the mechanical s suspension, steering, brakes drive shafts, wheel bearing (just a going over and safety check) The electronics(EV) components of the car will take care of them selves. As in there is nothing that M...

do you have a 2010 Imiev ? If so then it draws 13 amps Hence ampfibian popping. [/quote] Interesting - so then why does CanIon say it's drawing 6.9-7 amps? The circuit breaker doesn't start causing trouble until days when the temps get into the upper 30s; it's been rock-solid all winter. I may have...

Also can't find a thread for this - but who all is using an ODBlink LX or MX with CanIon? I'm trying to figure out why I'm still having annoying problems with having to re-pair the Bluetooth connection virtually every day. I've now tried it with 5 different Android devices (phones and tablets) acros...

Not sure if there's a better thread so I'm popping this into "mine"... Anyone have issues with the Ampfibian during warm summer days? I've started to find my 15A-10A converter popping its circuit breaker repeatedly when the weather is warm. I see that it has a max operating temperature of 40c and we...

I've tried having them made in China but so far the language barrier is proving to be a bump in the road. I also approached a maker group about using one of their 3D printers, but they got all frowny and muttered about copyright... I tried pointing out that it's a trademark, not a copyright issue, a...

i-MiEV Range *no discussion*

Since my normal commute involves coming home mostly uphill, and the fact that I rarely charge to 100%, I usually see about 80km in the mornings. I think the previous record was 91km. That last 5-8km of steep hills really confuses the running total algorithm... That said, I can often end up with 70-8...

i-MiEV Range *no discussion*

An unusual situation for me last Thursday - I did a fair stretch of driving over (relatively) flat ground, instead of my usual drive which ends up with 5km of steep hills before I reach home. Did a full charge that night, and woke up to a range estimate over 100 for the first time ever! In fact, as ...

It'll be interesting to see how long it takes - nearly 1,000km - call it 9 charge cycles, at let's say 6 hours each, so you'll have a couple stretches of actual driving per day... and a lot of loooong lunches!

Sixth-year servicing on the iMiev

Yeah, no one's ever claimed to be able to reprogram an iMiev key, and the part #s in that thread are for a later model than mine anyway. In fact, the guy who sold it to me said he tried to get the dealer to do it in the past, and waited hours before giving up and taking it back from them... So I thi...

Sixth-year servicing on the iMiev

I spoke to the Mitsubishi people in Chadstone and asked about servicing. Apparently the 6th-year scheduled service is $570, considerably more than the previous ones as it's expected that you'll have worn out more stuff I assume. He mentioned something about it being a 60,000-km servicing (if I remem...

I've had an iMiev for almost 3 months now, and while I am extremely pleased with pretty much everything about it, I have questions... I've been trying to find time to make it out to the local Mitsubishi dealer to ask, but the only people who know about it aren't there on weekends. So I'll ask the ex...

If you want to carry multiple large bikes and 4 adults I don't think the Imiev is your ideal car. True enough. I have two small kids though, so we all fit OK, and if we could carry the bikes on my wife's car (Nissan Cube) we would. The iMiev is definitely my ideal car though - I've wanted to go ele...

I'd prefer a trailer-hitch approach but both my mechanic and the Mitsubishi dealer said that was not possible for the iMiev... thanks for the link, I'll check with these dudes!

Thanks - it didn't seem prudent to ride around with bikes hanging off the back of the car sideways like that, but if you've done it as much as you say, maybe I'm overthinking it. I can't pay Thule prices though - I'm going to have to learn more about what types of racks will fit my car and then scou...

Carrying bikes?

I'm trying to find a way to carry a bunch of bicycles on my iMiev, but I'm not making a lot of progress. The mechanics I've asked, and Mitsubishi, say there's no way to put a rear rack on via tow-bar. I've got 4 bikes - 2 adult and 2 kids' - to tote around. And my wife's bike is electric too, so it'...

EV saves the day? Movie "The Martian"

But he's also driving something a lot bigger than any normal EV, and towing half of a second one. I don't think the key is the batteries at all, but how much energy he can collect in a single daytime cycle. Which would depend mainly on how much area he could cover with his panels. So they'd have to ...
