Re: RETROFIT SOUND GENERATOR FOR EV?

Hopefully it will all be a passing phase, made redundant by driverless vehicles in the next decade or two!

Re: RETROFIT SOUND GENERATOR FOR EV?

Sounds just like our current Government, sitting on their hands when it comes to legislating useful car stuff that would make a big difference to the planet like emission and fuel consumption standards, but let's hit these fledgling EV things with everything we've got!

Re: ICE alternator current display/logging

I mainly want to log them, so I can track what is being supplied to the vehicle battery and thence (via a DC-DC Charger) to the house batteries, as well as all the peripherals like lights, instruments etc. I figured if I was logging them, it would be useful to have a display so I can see what's goin...

Re: ICE alternator current display/logging

Current clamp. So much easier. Chris, I'd considered those, but had concerns about how robust the setup would be in a motorhome that regularly travels on corrugated roads, eg the clamp bouncing around and wearing the insulation on the encircled wire. Also I was concerned about possible inaccuracies...

ICE alternator current display/logging

Hi All, One of our vehicles is an ICE motorhome and for various reasons, I'd like to display the current going into/out of the vehicle battery as well as the current being produced by the Alternator. Ideally I'd also like to log both of these. As our Alternator is rated at 80A (no indication if that...

I thought they were already offering an E type electric conversion.
Only if you're a prince I think.

Hmmm, maybe we ordinary folk can get one too: https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-shows/ ... roduction/

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

I'll ask again whether I can keep the failed charger when picking it up (if they even still have it). Mike, are you paying for the repair or is it being done under warranty? If you're paying, then the failed part belongs to you and they can't take it from you. When my Outlander PHEV traction batter...

Re: PHEV Loss of Km Range with Battery.

Hi reecho , is it a general loss of capacity or just a cell or two? If the latter, I have a bunch of cells recently pulled from my PHEV by Daniel at evShop Perth that he says are in excellent condition. If you can't get satisfaction under warranty and you have a small number of problematic cells... ...

Re: Troubleshooting an old 24V charger

Thanks again for your patience, Mike, The other pin is the gate; it is essentially open circuit (many mega-ohms), but will usually have a resistor from gate to source , typically 47 kΩ or 22 kΩ. ... The resistance should be seen gate to source, not gate to drain. So that's left pin to right pin. Ah....

Re: Troubleshooting an old 24V charger

Hi Mike, thanks again for your patience and detail, Yes, a friend once told me to imagine the line on a diode as a "wall" blocking the electrons from entering that end. Works for me :) But alas electrons flow opposite to "conventional current". But as long as you are imagining conventional current (...

Eek! I'm glad to know that AEVA still has a webmaster. Sorry, I neglected to say some really important things, that to me are really obvious, so I forget that beginners need to know them. Troubleshooting an old 24V charger

Hi all, I have an old 24V charger that died several years ago (no status lights, no charging) and I haven't had the time or the motivation to investigate until recently. So, today I tried taking the lid off to see if I could work out what was wrong. The outside of the charger looks like this: 24V-ch...
