Re: Renault EVs now available in Oz

I've been away for the past 3 weeks, but I believe I read somewhere that the Renaults are only available in the Eastern States, can anyone confirm or deny?

Dyson to try a leaf out of the Tesla book?

Dyson announces it is 2 years into a plan to produce an EV by 2020.

I'm sure there are lots of puns lurking in this one

Re: Renault EVs

Great news, but... why limit sales to businesses only??? What's stopping them from selling to anyone who wants to stump up the readies? Do they ever limit sales of any of their fossil-fuelled models to any subset of the population?

Re: Wind Turbine vertical axis

Well done acmotor! I personally like wind turbines, but the domestic-sized ones all share the problem that they really only produce decent output in very unpleasant conditions. As you say, it probably makes one feel a little more cosy in bed on a stormy night to think that lots of power is going in ...

Re: 2010 Imiev charging question

I think the volt evse was a lot cheaper than that, don't know how easy it is to find still find one. You shouldn't need the ampfibian as well if you get a 10a EVSE, the volt one has a 10amp plug I think. I believe some outlander PHEV owners also got a 10a evse which should work. I use the Volt EVSE...

Re: Living in the past.

Hi Richo, Not sure what time the Server OS is set at, but our Forum Software is set to WA time (just because I could!). However, each user can configure his/her own timezone in the User Control Panel -> Board preferences tab. I considered setting a default value for all users, but no single default ...

Re: 2018 Nissan Leaf!

Be great if it gets here before 2020, in reasonable numbers and at a price that doesn't send everyone away screaming! Is there anything more substantial than a nod and a wink to suggest it will get to Oz? And of course the fact that Nissan have already sold Leafs here (kind of). With that sort of ra...

Re: Outlander PHEV Range Extender?

Hi Pop, I'm no expert so hopefully others will chip in if I'm wrong, but here's what I do. I always plug our PHEV in and charge it fully at any opportunity and regardless of the battery SOC. However many of my trips in the PHEV use most if not all of the battery range so I have an incentive to keep ...

Outlander PHEV Range Extender?

Was just discussing with my brother crustovich whether extra cells + bits like these could be made into a useful range-extender for the Mitsu Outlander PHEV. Unfortunately neither of us knows enough about it to work out if it would be a worthwhile project. Anyone care to comment? In a perfect world,...

Since we opened up our New Forum, a few people have contacted me about Private Messages apparently not being sent properly. If you used Private Messages in our old forum, it now works a bit differently: After you send your Private Message, it moves to your Outbox ; Your message then stays in your Ou...

Re: Wind Turbine vertical axis

Hi Paul, I have a weekender in the mountains west of Sydney which is totally off-grid. 0.5kw of solar panels and an Ampair 400w wind turbine. My experience with the turbine appears to be similar to Rob's above comments. Are you sure yours is an Ampair? I wasn't aware they made a 400w model. Also, se...

Re: Wind Turbine vertical axis

Hi acmotor, I've looked into Wind Turbines quite a bit, though primarily for marine, small power plant operations. My experience is that real-life, 24/7 output from them rarely lives up to promises, though I can certainly relate the occasional personal experience of sitting on a mooring in 25-30kt o...

Further down from the post Woody linked to, I have described how all the old notifications are still there, you just have to spell out ...

Changed Colour?

An automated process now checks for your email address in the AEVA Membership database and updates your AEVA Membership status in this forum accordingly. This runs every half an hour (at 10 and 40 mins past the hour), so if you change your email address in the Forum to match that in the AEVA Members...

AEVA Membership Status about to be Automated

One of the benefits of the new forum is the ability to automatically set your AEVA Membership status from our Membership Database. Re: NEW FORUM: The Countdown has started

IIRC, Green was the default for Moderators. I added the other colours. Happy to make changes that make sense (and Woody's suggestions do have a certain logic to them) and that a reasonable number of people agree on. Trouble often is that people who care about colours often care a lot [/b] about them...

They're anything I choose to make them

But what I've done so far is:
  • AEVA members (blue),
  • Moderators (green),
  • Administrators (violet).

Hi Chris, I could be interested, but wouldn't have the time or the expertise to put them together into a battery I could use. So, I would be looking for something that I could use in place of a 12V Deep Cycle battery, anywhere between 100 and 300AH (at the 20 hour rate) depending on size/shape/weigh...

Hi Chris, Also, I notice it doesn't highlight whether or not there's new posts in a thread. Not a big deal regardless. Yes, the old version of phpBB used to do that. The equivalent functionality is now in the little Quick Links menu near the top left of the page. One of the menu items that drops dow...
