Portable RCD with 15A to 10A Mains Plug Conversion
Simon wrote:Been meaning to try charging the iMiEV on the 15A to 10A outlet again and gradually add more load and see how many Amps it actually trips at.
Tested it today and it took 15.7A before it tripped the circuit breaker! Only left it on 13A a minute or so and kept increasing by 1A at a time.

Portable RCD with 15A to 10A Mains Plug Conversion
It should work fine to charge the Leaf on a 10A outlet. Although the unit we have doesn't trip charging a 2010 iMiEV which draws 12A continuously but g4qber's trips after a few minutes. Been meaning to try charging the iMiEV on the 15A to 10A outlet again and gradually add more load and see how many...

2010 imievs used for gateway project
g4qber came over today with a selection of EVSE's to try out on my parents 2010 iMiEV that has been modified to work with j1772 EVSE. We tried a Holden Volt EVSE (10A), modified Nissan Leaf EVSE(10A), 1 of Patrick's (forget the brand) and an iMiEV EVSE. On all of them it was drawing a steady 12A! 28...

Initially I thought the older i's were not fully j1772 compliant (it comes with just a j1772 handle direct to a 15A plug) but amongst the paper work is a small slip which seems to suggest it may have been modified in 2011 for the comms. Will have to try charging from a proper j1772 charge station a...

I would like to come down and watch but got things on tomorrow. Went to the last practice session and it looked like Patrick had the amps turned up quite a bit by the end of the day.

http://email.holden.com.au/2012/septemb ... age-2.aspx
According to this it's fixed price $185 (cheaper than an iMiEV
) for the first 3years/60,000km and service intervals are every 9months/15,000km.

I don't think servicing costs should be too much on the Volt? If you use the average of 60% miles done on EV then the average Australian would only do 6000km a year on petrol. That's only 60,000km over 10 years. So should be no major servicing costs just oil and filter changes and coolant. 2014 Chev...

On my Niki (not an iMiEV) I used to be able to goto work and back on 8.5Ah-10Ah until I got new tyres and now it is more like 12-13Ah! http://forums.aeva.asn.au/smileys/smiley18.gif The new tyres are 5mm wider though.. 2014 leaf
There was this kit from Enginer for the Leaf. http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1078684_leafhacking-battery-mod-gives-extra-range-but-at-what-cost Don't think you will ever see a towable range extender for the Leaf. Mmm maybe it's because he really does? He made no mention of the cost of nuclear power or the long timeframe to build it and stated that going totally renewable would cost lots.

What about a total loss water cooled system? Extend the cooling fins and run a water mist over the motor case.
