LAMS Should be good news for EV motorcycle conversions. Hopefully the GTR250 and similar bikes resale value will drop considerably making donors plentiful and cheap! Image

DIY Battery Cooling

I think if you need to cool batteries some form of air cooling with a blower would be the easiest way to go. My car has 12 cells under the bonnet and another 24 cells in a box where the rear seat used to be. Measuring temperatures after a 25-30km drive the cells under the bonnet are barely above amb...

It's best to get the biggest capacity pack you can afford. My first lead acid agm pack only lasted 9500km before it couldn't give me the range I needed. The current Lithium pack is still very small for a car (only 6.5Kwh) but gives me over double the range of the original lead acid battery. Even tho...

I think building an EV motorcycle from the ground up would become more than just a side project and take all your time and lots of money. You are crazy! Image

I actually thought the Holden Volt was going to be priced around $80,000! http://forums.aeva.asn.au/smileys/smiley3.gif So $65000 including onroads is bit better but still a lot of money! According to this article, Houston, We have a problem some Chevy dealers try their hardest not to sell the Volt....

Hybrid Car Owners NOT Likely To Buy Another Hybrid

Yes Toyota are not committed to 100% EV's. I think they want to milk the hybrid drivetrain for all it's worth first. What Toyota EV's are you referring to IVI? The only EV's I know of are the Rav4 EV that is only going to be sold in California in limited numbers and the powertrain is made by Tesla.

Hybrid Car Owners NOT Likely To Buy Another Hybrid

I also have a Prius but what I really wanted at the time was a 100% EV but was too impatient to wait till I had finished my conversion. I would never want to go back to having a 100% ICE vehicle either! Hybrid cars like the Prius are just so much more pleasant to drive with the smooth, quiet, seamle...

Battery pack voltage advice for EV datsun 1200

gday simon, how far did you typically discharge your optimas? what voltage per cell? cheers Hi Brett, Congratulations, nice job on the Datsun! The average voltage per battery was 12.56V and average distance between recharges was 9.3km. I basically drove to work and back and recharged after work if ...

I have a 500W Meanwell in my car, not sure what model number. It works OK but can't keep the voltage stable with the headlights on and indicators blinking. Noticed the issue with it draining the 12V battery but haven't fixed it yet. Another thing to add on the "to do list".    http://forums.aeva.asn...

Battery pack voltage advice for EV datsun 1200

My Optima D34 batteries where charged to 14.5V and then charger went to float mode. After switching off the charger the Voltage would drop down to 12.9-13.2V. I think 0% SOC would be 10.5V? The Optimas only lasted 9000km in my car and that was with shallow discharges to 70-60% SOC. You should consid...

Blade EV problem - no start when cold!

Not a Blade owner or mechanic but could it be your 12V battery dying? Easy to eliminate that as the problem anyway. My EV has a very sick 12V battery after leaving the heated seat on and fully discharging it. http://forums.aeva.asn.au/smileys/smiley18.gif The other morning I had to switch off the Le...

Subaru under-represented in EV conversion? Why?

Yes I think it's mainly the added complexity of 4wd and the reduced efficiency. Noticed there are very few Nissan's either, would really like to convert an R32 Skyline myself but to do it right would cost a fair bit. Still it would be cheaper than buying a Leaf!!     http://forums.aeva.asn.au/smiley...

Antiscab's NWH10 Prius plugin Lithium conversion

I have been playing around with RC Lipo packs on my electric mountain bike and was thinking well maybe I could try them in the Prius. A single string of 5AH Lipo would cost around $600 but they only seem to like 7C continuous so probably need 10AH to ensure there is no heating of the cells. So 10AH ...

I thought battery warranty was standard at 8years? But a battery warranty is not really much good when it doesn't cover capacity loss anyway.

Not a new battery, but the improved CALB CA cells. Better cold weather performance, longer cycle life and higher discharge rates.
