Hi Piers,

once you have posted your story, go to Post Options / Edit Post and you can add images from there using Image Upload (image with up arrow). Make sure that they are not too big, less than 200Kb.

It would nicer to be able to monitor individual cells of a series set as shown.

I power mine off a 12V - 12V isolated DC-DC converter. Maybe that will help.

TBS E-Xpert Pro Doing Funny Things

Hi Paul, Have you got your shunt sense wires twisted together? This will stop interference as these wires are carrying such a small voltage. Also check you connections, they are very small and fiddly, and close together. I used one of these in my Barina EV conversion(finished converting in 2010). An...

Some "don'ts" for EV building

Hi Peskanov, Luckily not all FWD cars have a split driver's side drive shaft. One conversion I helped with on a 1990 Daihatsu Charade had a full drive shaft both left and right and was a very easy conversion. I am sure there are others out there... Just pick the right car. My conversion on a 1985 Ho...

Hi poprock, Firstly my conversion is a Holden Barina (made in Japan by Suzuki). The left hand engine support is now polypropylene and the two torque supports are original each side of the gearbox. Don't use first gear. For reverse gear I reduced the potbox voltage going to the controller. I hooked u...

I think non-AEVA members can view this area, they just can't post anything.
They should be able to PM.

Solar charging

Thanks for your information. I have had to give up on the notion of a separate charging system for the car. As a long time user of solar I started when the buy back rate was high and locked in for 20 years by legislation. Any change in my setup is likely to abrogate this arrangement and drop me way...

Try swapping the inputs to the ammeter - on the instruction sheet it says you cannot reverse the polarity. I think you have it reversed. That won't show regen if you cannot reverse the input.
Maybe the reversal bit is only on the supply side...

Hi Christopher, That should be OK, you are are not advertising an item, you are just advising of an offer, which may benefit members. I don't know what the prices are in other states, but at Unley Nissan (the only LEAF dealer in Adelaide SA), the price is already under $36,000. I don't know whether ...

No, it's not OK. You are basically shorting out the 13K ohm resistor.

Dual output DC/DC query...

If the dual isolated dc/dc converter has a real 12V and a 5V output and both are isolated from each other on the output - that is OK.
You cannot power both meters from the same single DC-DC converter. The meters need to be isolated from each other.

Dual output DC/DC query...

Be careful with this... dc-dc converters need to be isolated types and you will need a separate one for each meter.
If your meter is powered by 12V use a 12V - 12V isolated converter and if your meter is to powered by 5V use a 12V - 5V isolated converter.

Hi, I have driven the Outlander PHEV in real life conditions and after a full charge then driving it around the Adelaide plains and then Adelaide hills for a total of 100Km, I got just over 7L/100km. Something is overheating?

The controller is probably the main culprit. They are normally designed to start shutting down as the temperature starts getting up.Powerful external fans will help that. Also on a long trip the motor will be getting VERY hot as well it's good to have a powerful fan pointing into the commutator sect...
