Interesting - the service manual states DOT3 or DOT4 - so yes hydroscopic unfortunately.

I guess the other way to look at it is these things are strange enough that when the packs do expire there will be people that offer replacement packs or DIY kits with current technology batteries of the day. I would love to rip this thing apart in 10 years and redesign a new state of the art pack -...

I’m not totally sold on the 20 year concept either especially the more I think about it. Lots of contact area with ali as mentioned. The product used is DIA Queen Super long Life Coolant (green) and the system seems to have a pressure cap rated at 29kPa (just over 4 psi) on our model – uses 5.1 litr...

Bad Luck about the ding! If you look at the total service costs for the i it works out as follows from the Cap Schedule; 15,000km/12 Month $280 30,000km/24 Month $480 45,000km/36 Month $280 60,000km/48 Month $480 So a total of $1520 (max) over the 60,000km or 48 month period....

New thread now started for Servicing the i-MiEV ..... Found a cheaper source of genuine i-MiEV Fog and DRL kits and they seem to have all the right standards markings for here. Kurt was right in the end! Only problem is they are for the US Vehicles. Here is the final outcome from the correspondence....

20 years for the circulating coolant replacement is correct – NOT a Typo. I understand the concerns about being ripped off by service departments and I also would normally service our vehicles. My concern is keeping the 5 yr warranty on mainly the pack but also the controller, charger, drive assembl...

Kurt along with the sales agreement Sue got a ‘Capped Price Servicing Agreement’ (a CPSA) which has 4 agreed service points - 15,000 30,000 45,000 and 60,000 km. Depending on which service it is, the prices range from $280 to just over $400 – these are capped (what does that mean I hear?). I have no...

Kurt, our dealer does not want to see the genuine Mitsubishi combination lights, stock etc used in OZ from a warranty view point! Not an approved item here by them and they don’t want the steering column messed with.

Fair point too. I don’t intend to change anything else for that reason. I have also checked with the service manager to make sure he has no issue with what I am doing – as simple as it is. He wants an ADR approved DRL used. And I’m happy with that. I have also got him to note my concerns about two c...

These might be the go? http://forums.aeva.asn.au/uploads/282/Hella_1006.jpg Need to open up the hole very slightly but the bezel ring would give a nice finish. Correct wattage for me and meets all the ADR ticks, The Problem? They are Hella and will not be cheap.... I think around $130 each. Bruce

I would try Pro-Kit next in Canberra they have a number of outlets I think.

Re Sun Shade for i-MiEV Took the 900mm high shade back as it was far too big for the inside of the car. It could be used and cut down for a perfect fit if you wanted to take the time. In its place, I purchased an 800mm x 1400mm shade by the same company. The Item number is RG2645 and once again Auto...

Yes I'm sure it is top balance so not sure why the comments about deeper discharges would help the balance process? Kurt your Batt Status seems almost to perfect! You seem to be down to the resolution of the measuring system. I have never seen a pack that good in anything I have played with. I think...

Kurt that is one balanced pack! Ours is still showing 40mv difference on 2 cells. Both after a complete charge and after a 40km trip. Yes would like something around 6 to 8 watts but can only find junk. These are most likely too bright as you say. Shouldn’t be so hard. I think a single reflector job would actually be better the more I look at it.
Any ideas?
