If so you will not get a mountain bike approved. For one I don't think there are any "DOT" approved tyres available for MTB's.
Bicycles already fall into a category that was never designed to be road registered. Changing that would be almost impossible.

Are both tabs aluminium? I read on endless sphere that one is ali and one is nickel plated copper.
I'm not a fan of the clamp idea to join cells, it is too bulky for my plans. If I buy some I plan to laser weld the tabs so need to know what each is made from.

I'm guessing that situation would only occur when installing a hub motor. As that is the only situation I could see where the braking systems would change from the original bikes brakes.
That is an expensive hit to take if converting a sub $2000 scooter!

Karts sound pretty good to me. Not too expensive, you could do efficiency challenges as well as flat out racing, and they're accessible. If we want to go to something bigger then Formula Vee sounds pretty good. Funny I was thinking the exact same thing. Start out with karts and move to formula Vee....

I Agree 100%. Showing electric cars as "fast" would do wonders for public opinion. Low speed efficiency trials reinforce the "electric vehicles are slow" opinion.

Karts would be a good place to start. The cost involved in building/converting a passenger vehicle to electric would limit the number of people competing to a select few. Karts mean less batteries (cheaper), easier to get to the track (more convenient and cheaper), and cheaper controllers and motors...
