Re: Hyundai Australia Kona EV info

According to a dealer in Melbourne pre orders have started. In WA they know nothing. We are called Wait Awhile for a reason.. :-)

Re: 7kW vehicles using 3-phase sockets

There are EVSE's available to do this like this.. https://www.khonsevse.com/product/portable-evse-charger-2/ You would of course need to swap the euro blue plug for a 32A version. For me I have some OpenEVSE parts to make up something if required. Blown up Tesla wall chargers make an excellent donor...

Re: Auxiliary Battery - Why?

I notice that the I-Pace, Tesla and many other pure EVs still have an auxiliary 12V battery. For the I-Pace, it's an AGM battery, not Lithium, so it's likely to only have a lifetime of ~ 5 years. Worse, it appears that if the aux battery runs down, the whole vehicle is disabled. Presumably, they've...

Re: Replacement Battery Options for 2012 i-MiEV?

The new battery packs have LEV50N cells which require software updates to the BMU and then calibration with the CMU's. Nicely packaged on a CD but useless unless you have an MUT-III diagnostic tool and the applicable modules for I-Miev.

Re: Importing a Leaf into Western Australia

But there is no warranty either. You could be buying a lemon. But I have bought plenty of ICE cars from Japan over the years. The better quality of broker the better the result. If you buy a lemon, you almost always have a right to a refund or repair. True but if you import yourself using a broker ...

Re: Importing a Leaf into Western Australia

Thank you all for your input, I thought it might be the case, that you will have to get the leaf compliant in another state. I will give prestige motor sport a call in the new year. I still think if I could source a leaf for around $20000ish with the range to get the 90km to work it would be workab...

Re: Charging your non-Tesla EV from a Tesla charger

Found a Tesla charger where my adaptor would not work at Gosford Motor Inn. Just kept getting the message "Mains power too low". Maybe this charger was not set to legacy mode. Did not try it but google says it might have worked if I had locked the car before plugging in. Maybe next time... https://...

Re: Importing a Leaf into Western Australia

Seems to be about $20,000 cheaper for the Leaf based carsales. Imports do have their issues though, took over a year to get the Takata airbags fixed on our import Delica. I quite like the Japanese sat nav, the maps there are so much more interesting than Perth, lots of mountains and islands. I am s...

Prestige does them I think. Isn't that right @@reecho ?
Geoff Risbey at Prestige Motor Sport will happily import one. But it would have to go east first for compliance.

I doubt any more SEVS workshops will sign on for Leaf, especially n WA.

Re: Hyundai Australia Kona EV info

I have been told that now AU and NZ build Kona Electric will be the same. All Kona Electric cars delivered so far in NZ have been irish spec cars. Pricing for the "Elite" trim has been pegged at $53-55K AUD plus on roads. The premium trim will be a little more like the Ioniq. Link below is info incl...

Re: PHEV Loss of Km Range with Battery.

Hi @reecho, is it a general loss of capacity or just a cell or two? If the latter, I have a bunch of cells recently pulled from my PHEV by Daniel at evShop Perth that he says are in excellent condition. If you can't get satisfaction under warranty and you have a small number of problematic cells......

Ouch. After 25000kms i'm down to 81.8% capacity or 31.1Ah. Not ideal. 800 odd charge cycles as well over just under 3 years of ownership.

I got the TC charger direct from manafacturer in China , made to suit my pack voltage & WITHOUT CAN interface , since I have hears so many tales of woe about CAN incompatibility. Works PERFECT with ZEVA BMS using the manual hookup method . No need for CAN there at all. Note that the ZEVA BMS does s...

I’ve owned Zoe since March - charging at home with Tesla walk charger and it doesn’t always take the first time. Renault Essendon (Melbourne, vic) openly tell owners and potential owners of the Zoe to use Tesla chargers at shopping centres etc! I also use a portable unit purchased from evnomics.com...
