Pretty sure the main and sub selector position switches are mounted on the transaxle. At least it is on the 2010.

I want an EV, but what?

1)    I would look for ones that have the pilot signal mod done. This means you can get a charge at regular J1772 level 2 charge points (such as Chargepoint) plus the ability to charge at home with a regular dumb cable. You get the best of both worlds. Note that the charge rate cannot be altered on ...

New to the forum & new I-miev

I have 5.2KW of HHV panels and a SMA 5000TL inverter. While I have the generous feed in tariff which has another 6 years to run, there is no point in changing anything. But I suspect in 6 years time the industry will be in full swing with off-grid installations, with pack pricing falling even furthe...

EVSE Miev cords

To add the pilot signal the whole J1772 car harness is changed. It only uses the confirmation signal to start charging. No PWM control is present as the charger on 2010's do not support it so you will get only 13A charging at all times. I am trying to source the pins at the moment to do the mod myse...

yes they use GPS for location and 3G (or GPRS) to transmit data.

The airbag control modules do not. They use speed and gyro sensors...

iMiEV has a "black box" recorder

Gabz wrote: i thought it was only the EV trail cars which had recorders so that they had solid data for reports.

saying that Tesla and Nissan do too and it reports back to the mothership on regular basis.

My 2010 I-Miev did have a "tracker"in it.....

Needless to say it's not in the car any more.

The figures are accurate. Don't assume there is a direct relation to pedal position vs. throttle position especially on cars with servo controlled throttle.

Police not so much....unless it involves fatalities.

Insurance companies on the other hand, are a lot more ruthless.

I want an EV, but what?

For a hands on car I think a first or second gen Prius would be a good fit, either with a faulty original pack or good pack and adding the PHEV kits that are available. Dead blade EV another option if there is any around. There might also be a converted focus on sale over here in WA from the REV tri...

I want an EV, but what?

"One of the limiting factors with the I-Miev is the 3.3kw on board charging" That's not a real limitation considering all AU imiev's come stock with CHAdeMO (50kw) DC fast charging socket on the passenger side and a few DC fast charges are starting to pop up. I want an EV, but what?

One of the limiting factors with the I-Miev is the 3.3kw on board charging. That's actually exactly opposite to my requirement. I'd prefer 10A maximum charging so it can be used with any power point. I know the iMiev has a 15A plug, but does it actually draw 15A, or just 10A I recall that one of th...

I want an EV, but what?

Thanks. That's the plan, although I'm not sure how much I could feature it? Any hacks available? One of the limiting factors with the I-Miev is the 3.3kw on board charging. One chap has tapped into the DC input and added a 50A charger. CAN-BUS can be snooped now with software called CANion. Once th...
