Re: Prelude conversion project - some questions

In regards to the IGN and SRT wires go for the higher gauge wires like coil feed and starter motor solenoid feed but fit appropriate fusing for the items connected. That will avoid any volt drop with lighter gauge circuits.

Re: X1 vs S6000?

I'm going to test drive the X1 next week. I guess the main competition in my mind the ZEV S6000 . The biggest concern other than the price is the small wheels and form factor of the X1. I just don't see it being a good commuter for me (22km each way, 80kph zones, some long steep hills). Leaning tow...

Pricing should be announced this week. But bank on $50k to $55k plus ORC for the 2 models. The Kona EV will have 2 retail models (Elite and Highlander) and a special fleet model that will sit under the elite. Both Elite and Highlander models will be fitted with an 8" touch screen featuring Apple Car...

Yeah but for the sake of confidentiality I won't mention them without them knowing first.

Found another person on Reddit who's ordered as well..

This car has been "doing the rounds" according to others. It's not new stock for sale.

But I'm liking the lighter interior. Not sure what's on the boat though..

Re: Hyundai Australia Kona EV info

I have ordered one...Or perhaps preordered one..:-)

The first batch of cars for WA will hit the wharf this month according to the dealer. With a little snooping that means the 19th Feb.

$50K for the Elite spec and $55k for the Premium/Highlander spec plus ORC in WA.

I'm thinking the ZEVA BMS Core has some functionality for inhibits you can use..??

Re: 7kW vehicles using 3-phase sockets

There are EVSE's available to do this like this.. https://www.khonsevse.com/product/portable-evse-charger-2/ You would of course need to swap the euro blue plug for a 32A version. For me I have some OpenEVSE parts to make up something if required. Blown up Tesla wall chargers make an excellent donor...

Re: Auxiliary Battery - Why?

I notice that the I-Pace, Tesla and many other pure EVs still have an auxiliary 12V battery. For the I-Pace, it's an AGM battery, not Lithium, so it's likely to only have a lifetime of ~ 5 years. Worse, it appears that if the aux battery runs down, the whole vehicle is disabled. Presumably, they've...

Re: Replacement Battery Options for 2012 i-MiEV?

The new battery packs have LEV50N cells which require software updates to the BMU and then calibration with the CMU's. Nicely packaged on a CD but useless unless you have an MUT-III diagnostic tool and the applicable modules for I-Miev.

But there is no warranty either. You could be buying a lemon. But I have bought plenty of ICE cars from Japan over the years. The better quality of broker the better the result. If you buy a lemon, you almost always have a right to a refund or repair. True but if you import yourself using a broker ...

Thank you all for your input, I thought it might be the case, that you will have to get the leaf compliant in another state. I will give prestige motor sport a call in the new year. I still think if I could source a leaf for around $20000ish with the range to get the 90km to work it would be workab...
