Re: Home charging - solar diversion

Has anyone seen a charger like this available in Australia - which takes excess solar and puts in a car before sending it to the grid? Interesting. They talk as if the power is continuously variable, but I suspect that there are actually only 3 practical power levels when charging something like a ...

Also the OpenEVSE can do this but it requires a little tinkering... Not a polished retail product like the Zappi..

Re: Need Help with J1772 wiring. Gelco EVSE ??

The Tesla charger needs to be set to legacy mode.... Dip switch 2 inside it... The 882 Ohm resistor and 1N4148 diode will work on most Charging points, but the new 3 phase Tesla HPWC's are fussy. You would of been better off to use a type 2 socket on the lightweight.. It's becoming more common by th...

I suggest Renault are stalling as the Zoe will get a refresh around July. Possible inclusions include 60Kwh battery and CCS2.

Re: Odometer tax?

A price per km is fairer all round but the government could make the rate for EV's lower as an incentive....As CJ mentions it was never indexed so it hasn't kept up with CPI. The sticking point is that EV's will be (at least short term) heavier in weight than an equivalent ICE vehicle and will have ...

I spoke to Phil about his "frankenstein" adaptor.

He agreed it's not really the best way to do it. Legacy mode inside the HPWC is the better bet.

If your I-Miev doesn't have the 5th pin fitted to the J1772 socket on the car you can not use EVSE's. Easy to check visually.

2010 I-Miev's pull 13 Amps all the time. that will explain the continuous tripping or the breaker in the Amphibian. Can't reduce it easily either as these models do not have PWM charge control.

Did you try Mitsubishi? Last I heard they said you could still get an i-MIEV if you were prepared to pay full retail and wait for it to be imported. Not expecting anyone to actually do so.
