Re: Brake Lock: it should not happen!
Today, returning home from Brisbane, I had an idiot in a B Double cross into my lane when I was half way up the trailers. He just put his blinker on & came across! Lucky I was in the RH lane, so had some room.... (all at over 100Kph) Anyway, when I panic braked the wheels locked. I have been drivin...

Re: Intel on Ioniq 5
In the US, the larger of the two battery sizes goes from 72.6 kWh (international) to 77 .4kWh (USA only I believe, though he says North America). But they get less froot (frunk for them) space. [ Edit: 77.4 kWh is USA only, not Canada, it seems ] I wonder if that means the battery really is 78kWh a...

Re: openEVSE single phase 32A charger use at home and away
Yeah lose the blue commando plug and bang a 5 pin 32A angled plug on. No issue wiring a 3 phase socket with single phase. OpenEVSE is awesome. I have 2 of them now.

Re: Kona Fire - new packs required
I think if I read this right all Kona packs are going to be replaced. No matter how bad your day is .. it can always be worse. NewDaily mentions that an official said LG Energy Solution would probably have to replace all affected battery packs in the world when the ministry officially talks about t...

There's an 80A fuse on the ChaDeMo so that's 24kw. I think 18kw is about right.

The DC charger at Arthur River was recently retired so keep that in mind.
Re: MG ZS EV
You can also change the charge rate on the unit itself via the touch sensor and into the menus. That sensor is an option now on all kits. I have a touch button but I couldn't get it to work. The command to enable it was not recognised. I suspect the front button function has been completely removed...
Re: MG ZS EV
7kw EVSE's are available from OpenEVSE for under $500. Be aware however that they aren't 'portable' in the same context as a 10 amp or 15 amp plug-in EVSE as they need around 30 amps at 240v, and there wouldn't be a regular GPO in the country that will allow as much draw. Very rarely one might find...

Re: Kona EV Brake recall!!
I got it too, another one Im not bothering with. If they want to do things to my car, they can come to me. I got a registered post letter from Hyundai about the Battery fire issue, just so they could make sure I know about it, but there is still no way I'm driving 3 hours to get a 15 minute update ...

Re: Intel on Ioniq 5
Yeah price needs to be competitive. If people think about it, a current Ioniq is a very compelling choice at $50k. It's range is only a fraction shorter than a base model 3, but the price is $30k less. That buys a lot of floor mat. The next iterations of Hyundai's EVs will be longer range and there...

Does anyone have any intel on when the Ioniq 5 will be arriving in Aus? Reports are indicating early 2021. https://www.caradvice.com.au/911656/2021-hyundai-ioniq-5-powertrain-details-leaked/ June/July 2021 is the estimate. the Ulsan factory is currently retooling for the Ioniq 5. I hope this unfort...

Re: BlueLink
I'm still curious why Bluelink got canned in Australia when it is still available elsewhere. Presumably the issue was more to do with compliance / regulation than anything technical? Australia never had Bluelink in the first place. We used a barstardised version of Auto Link Premium in conjunction ...

Re: local council put in tesla-only charger
If you know what you're doing, it's a quick switch to put into "legacy Mode" to make it suitable for all type 2 vehicles. (and others with adapters) I would imagine that the council got it for free from tesla and probably don't know any different. I carry a set of torque screws in my car for just t...

Re: Ioniq motor replacement
I agree, there's a bearing-like noise there. Hopefully motor bearing can be replaced and the motor can find its way back on the second hand market - would make a fun conversion powerplant :) My Kona drivetrain has developed a very slight milling noise. Not concerned just yet. That vid on the other ...

Re: Kona BMS recall: Anyone had the BMS module replaced?
Sounds like you are confusing the BMS (Battery Management System) from the Battery pack itself. You will be waiting for a full battery pack to arrive from SK. I haven't heard any issue with the BMS causing issues.

Re: Our second car is going to be the MG ZS EV
Tesla HPWC will charge other vehicles when set to "Legacy Mode". It's a simple matter of switching a dip switch. No that's not entirely true. The later versions (such as the ones supplied with Model 3) of the charger ignore this DIP switch setting. I take it that a 2020 one won’t charge a non Tesla...

Re: Hyundai will recall Kona EV models over faulty battery cells
Hi all, Hyundai have had my Kona on this recall for over a month. I've been required to call them weekly to get my hire car renewed and to remind them to send my $50 voucher for petrol (I HATE GETTING PETROL!). Dealership and customer care have not been communicating. I was informed that new BMS's ...

Re: Our second car is going to be the MG ZS EV
We have just traded our Vitara on the 2021 ZS EV - in red. Due late January apparently. Any tips gratefully received.....apps charging etc (we have a Model 3 SR+ with wall charger) We are now free of the oil industry. I doubt the HPWC will charge the MG as they are supplied locked to Tesla with M3.
