I have a good friend who was very high up at Siemens and he couldn't find any of the motors that Metric Mind sell. They were almost all OEM motors. The only matching model numbers I managed to find were in the Siemens marine range but I didn't take it any further. I think the Simovert controllers ar...

Which motor did you get MikeD? Just curious, as the guy at Metric Mind seems to have cornered the market in surplus OEM motors from defunct American car models (the Ford pickup for example) He has some really good Siemens hardware but I can't help thinking that it would be more economical to buy it ...

YESA LifePo4 batteries

I'm having second thoughts about these YESA batteries. 20Ah is pretty poor when you consider the cost. I could contemplate getting a pack voltage of around 400V but that would be all in series and I'd end up with only 20Ah capacity. HMMM.   This whole battery thing is a big balancing act. I've revis...

YESA LifePo4 batteries

Here's the response. They didn't send me a complete list only prices for the units I specified. The pack is 24V with BMS and charger which makes it quite good economy. link: http://www.yesa.com.hk/product_pack.asp?lb=1&id=1 The cap is this one rated a 1200 Amp Link: http://www.yesa.com.hk/pages.asp?...

Australian EV OEM Model

I saw an article a while back about a company that was gearing up to build an EV from scratch. I just can't seem to find it. They were going to build a small commuter car with an induction motor in it. Damn I wish I'd bookmarked the article. Image

These look as good as the ThunderSky batteries. I'll have some prices on the 24V pack with BMS and the cuboid super caps soon.

Here's the response from Simon Peaty at PMC Flightlink, Dear Ben, Many thanks for your interest in our Hi-Pa drive range of products. Currently the Hi-Pa drive is not commercially available as we are in the process of completing final development prior to bringing the technology to the mass producti...

Wheel Motors

Just read the spec on the PML motors and e-mailed them for a price. They claim that with the wheel-motor fitted there are only 2 extra Kg due to the fact that the hub/disc/caliper are removed from the equation. I wonder how the RTA would feel about a car with no brakes! I can just see a builder tryi...

have you obtained any prices for these motors? I have e-mailed a canadian company about their wheel motors and they have not responded. I find that most of these guys don't want to sell to individual constructors, which is pretty stupid. We're the guys who are going to get their products in the publ...

GAIA batteries, new to me

Grrrmph! There's always a catch isn't there. I certainly think the thundersky batteries are probably the best option at present as far as an EV pack is concerned.

Thanks for the reply Ian. Have you seen the locally made AC controllers from Tritium? http://tritium.com.au/ I know they'll only run 20KW but it's good to see we have a local manufacturer. I should have a budget for the boss done soon and I'll include the Warp motor in the price. Thanks for the lead...

Electric Torana

My boss at work, has got a plan to build a conversion in a UC Torana or similar vehicle. I have appraised him of the likely problems with this (or any conversion) but he's keen to build this for promotional work. I've suggested the easiest way to do a conversion would be with a DC motor (Advanced) a...

Here's a locally made AC controller that was designed for solar racers. It's got a peak of around 20KW and is intended to run a wheel motor of the CSIRO Halbach Axial type. I have corresponded with James Kennedy, one of the engineers, and he's currently developing a less expensive controller to run ...

Hi All. I'm a new member from the 'Gong (Wollongong) I have had an abiding interest in EV's for years and have always wanted one. I own a Prius at the moment which is as close as you can get. I have already found some useful info on the forum and on some of the members sites. I look forward to learn...
