The impression I get is that the massive bureaucracy of the PRC has some advantage. It would seem the best of the science and academic people are part of this structure and that 'government' as such is rather better informed and 'capable' of making technical decisions at least than in some countrie...

Agreed that China, from my visits, has a long way to go on the enviromental front. But perhaps ? has an advantage that 'government' directive is not political or commercially vested interest. I'd be surprised though if they will cut off their own feet as we were asked to with an ETS. I am intrigued...

Hmmm... Don't get your hopes up! Mostly the website for Astonbuses appears to be Chinese vapourware! The US 'sales offices' are convenience addresses.

Actually, Adelaide has purchased a New Zealand designed, US built EV bus. Sadly, it appears to just sit in the depot.
