Can I fix my TC/Elcon charger myself?

I have been busy collecting dead TC Chargers in the hope they may one day be repairable (after the first one I discovered the PFC front end still worked) thanks for sharing the knowledge guys :D hmmmmm doesn't sound good if they are dying all over the place. How many have you collected antiscab? Gl...

Can I fix my TC/Elcon charger myself?

Could your charger have been getting very hot, GRMarks? At least, these would be a relatively easy fix. Thanks for the input coulomb, but I have no idea. My charger is 132 volts 12 amp output and my pack is 12 kw but I have only ever charged for maybe an hour at most and its only got a little warm ...

Weber and Coulomb's MX-5

Hey weber early in your post you played with elcon chargers (now TC chargers), you opened one up and had a peek inside. Mine has just died 1/2 way through charging. Is there a fuse inside (wishful thinking thats its something simple)? I am not an electrical engineer so I may have to take it to someo...

if you have ridden a vetrix scooter, they have a throttle that does a simple version of what weber just described except it has a mild fixed regen setting. when you let the throttle go it returns to off position which is webers coast lo/cost hi position. To engage regen you have to push the throttle...

Chris I think your forum has been hijacked a little. Chris have you thought about a pressure sensor on the brake line to activate regen at low pressure and if regen is not enough then pulling the brake harder gives regen plus extra normal breaking? With your motor cooling problem, its hard to see fr...

Hi Chris wow that is really sad news, sorry to hear it. Sounds like times have been tough. I know exactly how you feel, when you say things can only get better. But I would not tempt fate because things could actually get a lot worse. Since I started my electric bike conversion, my father died, I go...

Will we really see the bike finished now?

My TZR 250 EV project

I registered a bike recently in Queensland under Ncop14 and i was told by both Queensland transport and vehicle standards that i needed to keep a battery for auxiliary purposes. As its mainly for time when you run our of juice where you 12V converters will be useless. But ncop 14 states it does not...

Chris do have any plans for a traction control unit? I ask cos I just saw swinburne's SAE car, powered by 2 emrax motors, run and they got 1000nm of torque and a lot of trouble to get the power down. They only ever got the motors to 1/2 power and mostly less than that because of too much wheel spin ...

hey Chris where do I get a tin of invisible paint that you used to paint the front rim with???? Looks great with the fairing on. When you say you have to make the mould, do you mean a plug (a shape that is exactly what you want in fiberglass (or carbon fiber)) because a mould is made of fiberglass? ...

EV2Go's - Lithium Powered Trike

do you have a URL where I can go to look at specs for these batteries?
Google brings up nothing and I can't find them on the A123 web site?????

What is the top blue bar for on tour swing arm? I see the bottom one is to allow tilting.

Thanks

Took some photos of a BMW at work... Ok is it just me or is there something fundamentally wrong with this design? http://forums.aeva.asn.au/uploads/350/017small.jpg I suspect when the front dips under breaking the front wheel pushes forwards as it traverses the ark (you are speeking about) thus kee...

wow, looks great and innovative.
But I have to agree with Richo.

My BLDC 10wk hub motor can push my 230gk motor bike to a speed of 115 kmh.
And thats only on short test runs so far.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to use less wk's?

Hi Chris I was wondering why you rejected the emrax motor. Two together would have given you the 100 kw continuous power. I know you had problems with the two "DC Indian smoke machines" but wasn't this due in part to not getting matched motors, hanging them out in harms way, shaft too short between ...

By the way, its a race bike you don't need a controller, just an on/off switch right? Zero power/100% power, then you could pretend its a 2 stroke!

Chris you could buy a new main control box and drill holes in the bottom (rather than the side (or is that top???)) to line up with the holes in the battery box (only need very short cables) and no need for the black plastic collars on the end where they enter the box. You could mount it higher up t...

Hey Chris, don't these cells get really hot in model helicopters etc? Do you have a air gap or some other thing between to cool the cells? I know the cell in my tiny helicopter gets really hot, it discharges in about 7 to 10 minutes I think, but its also very tiny. Your motor in your crx will make i...

Hi chris, don't know if you remember but we met at winton when you had the RG. Wow what a big motor for a bike! Maybe you could put a tyre on it and run it as a hub motor ha ha ha. Do you foresee any handling problems because it is a bespoke frame. Or can or handling problems be tuned out by the sus...

Well its been a long time since I posted anything (lots of other stuff going on) so I thought I would update the progress. OK my little DC/DC converter didn't work (the 2 operating from 1/2 up the pack only output 3V) so I have obtained and fitted/wired a new DC/DC converter (8 amp, 12.5 V mega juni...
