Re: Wanted - EV for training purposes

Does it need to be working?

Have you considered a hybrid vehicle like a prius? Same major components, the difference is scale and addition of internal explosion engine.

I could easily donate a prius

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

That makes things harder. A non original charger can be used via the chademo port. Car needs to be in drive though. It's somewhat of a hack, though it was bound to happen at some point

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

Removing the little black box on the 12v battery is usually the first thing I do with blade electrons. Every car including the blade charges the 12v battery both while driving, and while the car is charging. A 3.3kw charger should be under $1000 new. If Mitsubishi aren't helpful, I'd suggest putting...

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

For $4k I would be tempted to get an after market charger. For that much you could buy a setec chademo unit and have enough left over for a Tc charger

Re: The Energy Retailers Strike Back. Will Cheap Off Peak Rates Kill Battery Storage?

It won't be long until off peak is basically 10pm until 3pm. The battery only needs to be big enough to last until off peak starts for best economics.

Inevitably peak will be at night

Vacuum pump

Hi guys,

So the vacuum pump in my mk6 just died. Does anyone know where to get another one from? I imagine they're reused from another vehicle.

Is this a grey import situation?

Are you planning on registering it here? Or just swapping all the bits over to an Australian delivered fiat 500?

Are you leaving it left hand drive?

Re: New Blade Electron owner

Pm me your email address and I'll send you what I have. Also highly recommend buying a USB can cable for the Orion bms. You have to contact ewert systems to get them to send you one out by itself. Alternatively, you can use Android app torque and a obd Bluetooth adapter to read values. Some extra wi...

Re: New Blade Electron owner

The tm4 has a hard lower voltage limit of 200v.

How are you measuring 180v? The nominal system voltage should be 320v or 100 lifepo4 cells.

Does yours have the cylindrical cells like in my car?

Re: Prelude conversion project - some questions

The Tc chargers have internal output relays, so don't need Pre charge. Johny - why would the inverter need a separate fuse? I haven't seen that before. The battery fuse is usually sized to protect the wires between battery and inverter. I could understand if there's multiple major loads, but the inv...

I'd love to take that battery off your hands if you're willing to part with it. There's a certain prelude conversion that would benefit from a light starting lighting battery.

Just put in 3 x 15A power points and remember to only use two at a time.

Re: 10 Amp charging

I've seen heaps of 10A extension leads with 1.5mm2 wire. I get mine from bunnings The wire in the wall is all 2.5mm2, with usually a 15A fuse, 16A or 20A circuit breaker. The only difference between a 10A and a 15 A PowerPoint is the bigger earth pin. If you've been charging fine from a 10A PowerPoi...
