Re: Hyundai Australia Kona EV info
Inspection items would be to catch issues like the Outlander phev battery plug being knocked out. As an example, though the Outlander with an ice would actually need servicing anyway Having said that, I can't think of any failures that could come back to lack of servicing, when the service schedule ...

Re: Hyundai Australia Kona EV info
Re servicing, it's trivially easy to reset the servicing counter yourself. Also, it's nearly all inspection items, out until 100k km. The only consumables are the cabin aircon air filter, which don't really need changing as often as you would imagine.
You can reasonably do most of it yourself.

Re: Lead acid to lithium conversion
Generally 12v lithium batteries with internal bms can't be put in series, unless rated to do so. The issue is they tend to use semiconductor based switching devices, which don't have much voltage headroom.

What's the max amps of Regen? That would be more important. Also, how long are you likely to be doing hard Regen?

Re: YAEBU! (Yet Another Emax Battery Upgrade) project
I have a bit of a hate hate view of the old Emax sport. You'll need to add a torque arm or similar to the hub motor. If you don't, it will rotate in its housing one day. The speedo cable tends to get pinched between the forks and the frame. The original motor controller is a bit hit and miss. You ca...

Re: Replacement Battery Options for 2012 i-MiEV?
I wonder if a shunt trick could be a work around. I know in other vehicles the battery ecu measures current independently to that of the mc, for the purpose of soc calculation. The system may not check to see if the two values agree. You could use two high current 50mv shunts to act as a current spl...

Re: Importing a Leaf into Western Australia
It's probably better value to have a few 15A power point installed than an evse. Cheaper and less risk of any installed equipment becoming obsolete.
No WA importers, not yet anyway. The 30kw leaf doesn't handle high WA temperatures all that well.

I have 2 x 72v 1500w 20A Tc chargers surplus to my needs. Theyre cc cv charge profile, which could work depending upon what lead acids you have.

Looks like you can get Headway 15ah cells for 20AU on alibaba ($1300 for 64 cells), plus shipping and taxes. Might be able to get them to say their value is under 1k for customs... heard it's a fairly common thing for them to do That only works if the cells are sent by common carrier, auspost, Chin...

And to make sure you can get the job completely done, this kit comes with four 75Ah batteries Seems to have an 8 hour run time, if it takes you more than 8 hours to mow your lawn you...
