Do you have efficiency numbers at that charge rate? I know pf gets pretty bad, I'm just surprised efficiency would drop substantially

Re: 4Springs' Home Battery Storage System

Cycle count does a bad job of telling the story of service life. Either extreme of soc wears cells. High charge or discharge rate wears cells. High temp or extremely low temp wears cells.

Splitting the pack in two likely won't help your service life

Re: IS IT POSSIBLE TO ADD ANOTHER LAYER OF BATTERIES?

The battery in my plugin prius was too small, and died prematurely. It is possible, but cost prohibitive sadly. The uts prius I think is for sale second hand. The batteries are getting on a bit. There's been an issue with testing cells similar age to go in as a replacement. As for plug out with the ...

Re: super caps in a NHW10

The caps I bought didn't meet spec, 300F instead of 500F, with wide variation and really high internal resistance.

I could retry with larger maxwells, but it's cost prohibitive

You would need to add to the cell groups underneath the car too. That may be challenging to impossible

Re: TO BLADE, OR NOT TO BLADE?

I misread earlier, I thought you were planning on upgrading it, rather than it already being upgraded.

Make sure you get a wiring diagram off the person who did the upgrade work.

Out of curiosity, did they fit a larger battery? Any other details on what the upgrade entailed?

Re: Non OEM Leaf battery upgrade?

The only one I saw working properly had two separate packs. The original as is, and a second one external and connected after the battery ecu current sensor. The car just saw the original battery discharging slower.

I'm struggling to find the link though 🤔

If you just want to get it home, just flat tow it, in B mode. Use a driver for both cars

Re: 10kW Motorbike Conversion

Top speed would be fairly short lived due to heat buildup. My Vectrix draws 10kw to do 100 -110kmh.

Tricky part is you don't really know until after its built and you've tested it

Re: MX-5 Hybrid conversion

Sounds like quite the project. I was originally going to suggest grabbing a Honda IMA unit, as that's around 10kw, already integrated, does Regen and has a 144v system voltage. Although that puts the motor on the motor side of the transmission How are you planning on shifting clutchless even with th...

I have noticed the heat pump running after I have turned the car off after a long drive.

I suspect the car uses the heat pump to hold the battery at 20 deg C or so all the time. Or at least while driving, charging and immediately after both

Haha technically the zoe is my partners, though I get to use it fairly regularly.

Average speed I think was 55kmh, what the car reported. Most of the distance was 100kmh zones, but actual speeds were more like 80kmh due to traffic

For obvious reasons, don't run the gen set while you're driving.

How much range do you have? What version of electron do you have?
