Re: PIP-4048MS inverter

Could it be the panels weren't at max power point until the inverter took some of the load? Likely array output was higher than what the batteries could take?

Re: Interesting issue affecting private imports

The mod is a resistor and a diode. Maybe two resistors, a switch and a diode if you want it to work with all stations. Not expensive, just a bit of soldering

Re: I-MiEVs for sale

The AC charge speed is the same for both the 2010 and 2012 models.

The 2010 just charge at full speed all the time. The 2012 back off if the evse says so. Both draw Max 3.3kw

Maybe connect a gevcu to the motor controller as a path to going aftermarket?

Re: iMiev Recall notice

Does the same thing happen when the plug is plugged in, but the evse has no power attached?

Only asking as I power my evse via a timer. My present car will only stop me from going in drive mode if the evse has power

Re: I-MiEV Main battery cell failure

When the car stops, has anyone been able to check the cell voltages, whilst the car fails to proceed?

I wonder if the issue is actually the motor controller, rather than the battery or charger?

Did you end up locating a 144v charger?

I have 2 x 72v chargers (both TC 1500W units) if you're interested?

Re: innovation

For the EV side of things, I'd recommend just getting an imiev cab for $15k. If you want to do a conversion on the space gear, you'll need at least $30k. It doesn't normally pan out unless you really need or want that specific vehicle Brace yourself, the mirth is coming; discussing anything overunity

Re: WTB: Vectrix (or functional equivilant)

There is a fellow who put 3 x Tesla modules into a Vectrix giving 15kwh and 250km range. It means you have to modify the modules into 48v 110Ah units by cutting 2 of the interconnecting plates. Leaf modules are still the easiest to use. I do know of a Vectrix in qld whose owner is looking to sell. I...

The cells are the same as those used in the Vectrix. 30Ah Nimh prismatics made by gold peak. They're probably similar vintage, but I have around 1000 cells sitting in my shed

Have you considered a hybrid vehicle like a prius? Same major components, the difference is scale and addition of internal explosion engine.

I could easily donate a prius

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

That makes things harder. A non original charger can be used via the chademo port. Car needs to be in drive though. It's somewhat of a hack, though it was bound to happen at some point

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

Removing the little black box on the 12v battery is usually the first thing I do with blade electrons. Every car including the blade charges the 12v battery both while driving, and while the car is charging. A 3.3kw charger should be under $1000 new. If Mitsubishi aren't helpful, I'd suggest putting...

For $4k I would be tempted to get an after market charger. For that much you could buy a setec chademo unit and have enough left over for a Tc charger

Re: The Energy Retailers Strike Back. Will Cheap Off Peak Rates Kill Battery Storage?

It won't be long until off peak is basically 10pm until 3pm. The battery only needs to be big enough to last until off peak starts for best economics.

Inevitably peak will be at night

Are you planning on registering it here? Or just swapping all the bits over to an Australian delivered fiat 500?

Are you leaving it left hand drive?
