Motor hasnt found a new home as yet, still up for grabs, and lets its under $200 now. I would like to thank Mike and Dave (coulomb and Weber) for all there efforts in testing this motor, I guess curiousity killed the cat. Its full capabilities are still unknown but Im sure it would suit someones con...

Update on the motor mounting. After scratching my head for awhile, below is the front piece of mount; http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u35/maok13/GTVev/MyMotorMount2.jpg This will bolt on to the chassis rail where it is in the above pic. The next step is to figure out how to adapt the another moun...

Motor mount designs
I am in the process of designing the motor mounts for my conversion, and would like some inspiration (im sure others would as well) from other peoples motor mount designs.
So post pictures (or CAD drawings) of your motor designs/adaptations in this thread.

G'day Evans, the best way to post a picture on any forum site is to upload your images to a picture hosting site. I use www.photobucket.com, but there are many others on the net. Once you upload the images to the hosting site (photobucket), every easy to do, you copy the "LINK" of that image from ph...

Thanks Bas, interesting about the motor mounts, I guess the X1/9 didnt need a big engine mounts for its original ICE. Im in the process of designing motor bracket mounts for my Alfa GTV, it would br great to see a pic of your setup, if its not too much trouble. Best way to post pics is by using a pi...

G'day Geoff, interesting idea you present regarding universal slip yoke, may research that possibility. I am entertaining the idea of extending the existing propshaft and also making a small shaft that would bolt on to the donut and slide into the female shaft but also supported by a roller bearing ...

I wont be using the bellhousing (actually its a rear engine mount that looks like a bellhousing, see 1st post pics). The electric motor will mount to the front of the engine (motor) bay as well as the original side chassis mounts.

Moving the steering rack really is not an option, you can see this with the following pic; http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u35/maok13/GTVev/102_3179.jpg The cross member under the rack would need to be cut and lowered. Too much stuffing around. It needed another 2 inches higher to attach to the c...

Thanks Woody, most of those ideas I have entertained as well, Im trying to not make mods to the chassis to make the engineering process alittle simpler, but one must do one must do, to get the project to the next stage. I think if moving the motor forward does not look like a prospect then maybe the...

Today I tried another approach to aligning the propshaft and the motor centre, but another set back. We still have the centering issue, even with the motor sitting on the steering rack and but the propshaft will not raise higher enough without hitting the top of the propshaft tunnel. http://i164.pho...

Did two dummy fits today with the MDF template adaptor plate. 1st go was with the original template, but found that it was snagging on the cross member and steering rack. http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u35/maok13/GTVev/102_3117Min.jpg http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u35/maok13/GTVev/102_3118M...

Due to rain (lots of it) in Brisbane in recent days, the dummy fit did not occur. But I do have some concerns about the motor clearing the crossmember and the steering rack that goes along it.
I have my fingers crossed.

I think the design looks awesome, but;

Am I missing something, or are they crazy?
