Re: Small solar system. Suitable controller?
Thanks Matthew
So, and correct me if I am wrong, I could use a PWM controller with a float voltage of 13.8v and a bulk charge of 14.4v?
Regards
Paul

Small solar system. Suitable controller?
Hi people I have an off-grid property in the NSW country. I want to set up another small solar system. I already have a 45ah 12v lithium battery and a 90watt solar panel. I also have a number of solar charge controllers which I think are all PWM controllers. I have heard that PWM controllers are not...

Re: Looking to/replace ZEVA MC600 controller or repair
G'day denisw You say that your MC600 has developed a fault. There is an LED light at the front of the controller which, when the controller is on and working correctly, will be a green/yellow colour. When there is a fault it will be various other colours. Could you advise what colour your LED light ...

Re: Problem with battery monitor?
You are right Brendon. I actually bought both the "old" type model VAC8010F and the new model VAC8810F on the same order. I have fitted the old VAC8010F and it works fine now that I have wired it up correctly. The new VAC8810F with the waveform I will keep as a spare. And yes the display o...

Re: Problem with battery monitor?
Hi Brendon and Chris Problem solved! The model I purchased was the 500v 200a model. The problem is that, even though the unit is rated to 500v, if I used the traction pack to power it (144v dc), it destroys the unit permanently! The second one I purchased is powered by 12v dc in the car and it works...

Re: Problem with battery monitor?
Thanks Brendon and Chris I have now purchased a new monitor same as the one I probably blew up! Hopefully it will be delivered in the next week. I will try to follow your ideas and not blow this new one up! I will post an update and probably a few more questions then. Thanks for your help! Regards P...

Re: Problem with battery monitor?
Yes Brendon the jumper needs to be moved if you are using an external power supply separate from the battery voltage you are measuring.
Manual is here: http://img.banggood.com/file/products/2 ... ctions.pdf
Pages 4 and 5 cover the jumper cap.

Re: Problem with battery monitor?
Further to the above Brendon
The monitor description says it is 500v dc and 200 amps but the manual says the voltage only goes up to 120v dc. My car runs at 144v dc. Could the voltage be a problem?
Thanks
Paul

Re: Problem with battery monitor?
Thanks tons Brendon You say "You can change the transmitter channel with the display but you need to be connected first." I assume that is done by the SFH or FCH option on the display or both? You also say "What you need to do is change the transmitter channel and then reset the unit&...

Re: Problem with battery monitor?
Hi Brendon I purchased the battery monitor you suggested. I am getting power to both the display and the measuring unit but they do not seem to be communicating with each other. I can't even get a voltage reading on the display! I have read the manual so many times I can almost recite it. I have als...

Problem with battery monitor?
Hi people, I have a bit of a problem with my battery monitor. I am using the TBS e-xpert pro. I can't really complain too much as I have had it in my converted Suzuki Swift for 15 years. I assume you have a corresponding large orange female connector to fit it as per the other photo? Where did you bu...

Re: DC/DC Converters
Hi Christopher
I am just wondering if you decided on a DCDC converter? If so which one?
I seem like I might be in the market for a new one also.

Re: 144v dc on/off switch
The DC-DC is rated between 127v DC and 431v DC. My traction pack at rest varies between 136 and 138v DC.When charging it gets up to 146.6v DC. That is nowhere near the 431v dc input it is rated for so I don't think that is the cause.
Thanks
Paul

Re: 144v dc on/off switch
I think the problem is solved! I normally charge my car overnight using off peak power. When I left the DC-DC converter on overnight, and charged the car, the converter would not work the next day. If I turn the converter off, and charge the car, then the converter works fine the next morning. If I ...

I wasn't trying to prove you wrong Mike, it was "I really hope Mike is right!"
I was keen to find any fast charger which also had an AC charger with it. Obviously as far as I am concerned we need more AC chargers but that is just me being selfish.
Cheers

Re: ARENA - Future Fuels Fund
I have done some checking. I checked the NRMA map to give me all the sites. Clicking on each icon gave me the address of each NRMA site but told me nothing about plugs or whether DC or AC. So I then checked each site in Plugshare and without exception all sites showed as DC fast chargers with CCS2 a...
