Re: Has Anyone Swapped Out The Nexen Tyres on Kona?

Well, my tyres are towards replacement. Bit the bullet & bought some today. Wanted Mich Primacy 4, but when I went to purchase them today, there were only 3 left at Tempe Tyres. (There were 7 this morning!) So, I have picked Bridgestone Ecopia EP300, @ $145 ea fitted (The P-4s were priced at $155ea)...

Re: Has Anyone Swapped Out The Nexen Tyres on Kona?

Thanks for the replies. Peter, I understand the diff btw the Pilot & the Primacy. Apparently the Pilot is std fitment on that other EV that seems to be popular (TIC). Michelin website does recommend Pilots on Kona, but I agree they are softer (so not for me!) I think I will go for Primacy 4s, but mi...

Re: Has Anyone Swapped Out The Nexen Tyres on Kona?

Hi, just wondering about the tyre issue: 2 problems atm: supply (bloody freighters in the Suez!) & selection. When you look at the Michelin site, the recommended tyre is the Pilot 4. btw, I was warned away from the Primacy 3 STs due to road noise. So, what is being used now? I am a country driver so...

Re: OpenEVSE - Australian importer / vendor?

When I bought my (short form) kits, it was much cheaper to source from the US. Not sure if that is the case now. I do know that the US is where the design originates, so sourcing there saves double handling. I bought a GRP case with a Polycarbonate lid that fits everything easily. (Case made in Sout...

Re: Disability access

For the comment on Disabilty access, to my knowledge there is no standard (but I feel there should be) It might be an inclusion in the parking standard perhaps. To my mind what would be required is a disability sized carpark space, with fairly level access, with free access to the charge point (so i...

Hi, I have used the NRMA Charger at Olympic Park (Sydney) in the last few days. I just sent a comment to the Olympic Pk Authority that I mentioned elsewhere, but It brings a bigger question: Why is there no standard for EV charging Infrastructure? The Olympic Park charger is in particular a really b...

Re: OpenEVSE - Australian importer / vendor?

As Chris says, to my knowledge, anything that Plugs in to the power is OK. However, if you wish to hard wire, it would need to be certified. The OpenEVSE is from the US, but should be loaded with the European software (Which can be done later) I am in the process of building one up. The ´Standard´ c...

Re: A win against ice in ev charger, Olympic pk.

Sent a message to the Olympic Pk Authority: Re: NRMA EV Charger. Hi, as a recent visitor to O/P, I used the NRMA Charger. However, on the 2 occasions I used it there was a petrol car illegally parked. Luckily the first soon came, & the 2nd after the Police rang the owner. I am a country visitor. Sug...

A win against ice in ev charger, Olympic pk.

At last a win! There was a Corolla parked in the charger spot (with a fine already on the screen). Luckily there was a Police car passing, so I flagged him down. To cut a long story short, he phoned the owner & she shortly arrived & moved her car so I could charge. This was the second time in 2 days...

Re: Imiev AC pump: access

Repaired! Problem was condensation in pump: Dried with a fan/heater when the lid was off (not too hot!) The lid has a hole in it, with a second cover that has a breather filter (probably Cortex). I sealed around this because if the lid warps a bit, the filter could let water back in. One issue with ...

Centre Display & BT etc failed to work!

Hi, I just had the display & all the controls on the centre display fail (ie display blank & none of the switches around the display worked). Stopped the car for business, & same thing happened on restart. BUT later (when I stopped again), the display did a Morrison (as in Nothing to see here!) & wo...

Re: Brake Lock: it should not happen!

Other vehicles I have driven, including a Commodore I drove in a Defensive Driving course (abt 20 yrs ago: how time flies!) allowed control during panic stops. In the course, you had to negotiate around an obstacle under full brakes, so the brakes did not lock or control is lost. ABS SHOULD ease the...

Brake Lock: it should not happen!

Today, returning home from Brisbane, I had an idiot in a B Double cross into my lane when I was half way up the trailers. He just put his blinker on & came across! Lucky I was in the RH lane, so had some room.... (all at over 100Kph) Anyway, when I panic braked the wheels locked. I have been driving...

Re: Kona cruise control speeds up hills

Nick, I do not have mapping, but I too have noticed (& reported at my last service) the problem you have outlined. I find when I set the cruise, the car tends to increase speed by up to 3kph. Personally I wondered if the cruise was set to actual speed, & the speedo to ´corrected´. We just had the la...

Imiev AC pump: access

Hi, my Imiev problem has been traced most probably to moisture in the electronics of the AC pump. Found the pump under the battery & cross member. My question is has anyone managed to remove the top without de-gassing? It might be possible to remove the mount plate & drop the pump enough, but I hate...

Re: help with reader error codes?

Hi, my Imiev has failed to proceed, & does not appear to be the DC-DC charger caps issue (lid off: look fine) The car charges OK, & I have replaced the 12v battery. However, after a few metres it goes into HV fault (car with exclamation mark) & turtle mode. So, I need an OBD2 reader to look at the e...

The reason for these labels is so Emergency services know to beware. They can then assess & handle the hazard.

Fyi, I got the same sort of economy towing a 7x4 fairly heavy empty box trailer back to Sydney.
I only just got between Grafton NRMA & Thrumster NRMA at Port M. Only charged to 80%: Will not make that mistake again! (I usually charge to 85% on fast chargers now)

If the battery pack is replaced, does that mean as under Australian Consumer law, the Battery warranty resets?
(Would be nice to have a full 8 years on the new pack)

Kona failed to proceed....

Fun, fun... I took my Kona to Lismore showground on Saturday. The car was in a secure location, & the tailgate was left open so I could access tools, etc. When I wanted to go home, the 12v battery was flat! Anyway, relatively new car (18 months from manufacture), so thought no problem to get Hyundai...

Bryce, I read the QLD document, but I could not find any mention of access for persons with a disability. This needs to be addressed! I still think ALL EV charging stations should be configured to allow access for persons with a disability, because even if a single station was designated, that bay m...

Re: Charging your non-Tesla EV from a Tesla charger

I have not read the full thread, but in Europe, Tesla is forced to have one station at their charging stations as a non-vehicle specific charger. With the dearth of chargers in Australia, I feel we should push for similar regulations.
