Re: PIP-4048MS and PIP-5048MS inverters

I'll contact @Manie to see if ICC could issue the Q1 command at least for the master inverter. I guess I could also connect my PI to the other 2 inverters and get all the temperatures locally I thought you might just use something simple and temporary like Scott's CRCGen applet and a comms program ...

Re: 1500 volt battery pack . not quite portable

125 x 12v 100ah batteries. That's $400ea. For used lead acid, configured in looong strings. It doesn't look like they've been neglected for long at all. What could possibly go wrong? :o Where I used to work, we had 20 12 V modules in series, and had to store them for a few months while the rest of ...

Re: PIP-4048MS and PIP-5048MS inverters

A typical set of temperatures for my inverter is 36/34/41/44 °C for SCC/AC/Battery/Transformer temperatures respectively. Mind you, that's at 23 °C inside, perhaps 25 °C outside. These figures come from the not officially documented Q1 command , and reported by my Node-RED monitoring software on the...

Re: PIP-4048MS and PIP-5048MS inverters

My inverters read the AC voltages 3 volts higher ... can this be changed to be accurate? No, not without hardware modifications. The scale of the currents can be adjusted with undocumented commands, but not the voltages. There are voltage scale factors, but they are never changed. [ Edit: added "no...

Dynamic Load Control A new patched firmware feature has been added, called Dynamic Load Control. This allows a serial command to force a machine into standby mode. This is similar to turning off the bottom switch. However, the processor keeps running, so another command can be sent to turn it back ...

Does anybody have an idea where I can get diagrams on this inverter. The service manual does not cover any of the switched power supplies. Do you have this manual? It has basic schematics for several power supplies: https://powerforum.co.za/files/file/10-1-phase-3kw-plus-hybrid-solar-inverter/ . I ...

Re: PIP-4048MS and PIP-5048MS inverters

I have all my panels as strings of three I assume that means that each of your strings is three panels of 60 cells each? Usually the panels with output around 250 W have 60 cells. Panels around 200 W and those around 300+ W usually contain 72 cells; the 200 W panels use the smaller 125 mm cells. A ...

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

There is a 20 A high rupture current (sand filled or ceramic) fuse exclusively for the charger and DC-DC converter, which is located in the motor controller. That's to protect the cable from the motor controller (where fat cables from the battery live) to the charger and DC-DC. Because it isn't wher...

Is there any new / additional information available about the error 51? We have continued this discussion on the Power Forum. Re: Connector for Tritium Driver Controls programming

I suppose there are a few ways to screw it up. Something that has bitten Weber and I is that the software can sometimes be a bit over enthusiastic about erasing the calibration area. Then the CPU speed and analogue readings can be off, and it can be a pain recovering them. At worst, you might have t...

Re: PIP-4048MS inverter

How do you mean, with no power applied? PV power? If there is no PV power, the MG is off, because there is no battery connected. It surprised me too. It seems to be via a normally closed contact, so yes when the power is completely off, I'd expect neutral and earth to be connected internally. The m...

Re: PIP-4048MS inverter

Can I somehow extract the firmware from my MG? Would be interesting... No, it's protected by a 128 bit password, so about 3×10³⁸ combinations. Plus, you need slightly specialised equipment and knowledge. I ended up bonding in my distribution box earth and neutral. (I have no AC in). Otherwise the c...

Connector for Tritium Driver Controls programming

I happen to have this connector part open in a browser. I thought I'd have to buy one (or several), but Weber heroically saved one that was mangled out of a dead unit. I may as well paste the address here so others (myself included) can find it again if needed. One of these connectors are required i...

are you talking about the main inverter box directly above the motor itself? Yes. In the original iMiEV, it would have been to the right of the charger/DC-DC box [ Edit: Looking from the back of the car. ]. My understanding is that the fuse is moderately easy to get to. I'm not an iMiEV owner, just...

all external "serviceable" fuses are in working order so... Does that include the fuse for the charger and DC-DC that is actually located under a cover in the motor controller? Re: PIP-4048MS inverter

if the inverter had been powered off/isolated from AC & batteries, it wouldn't have happened? Yes, assuming you've also isolated the solar panels, then the only source of energy is the bus capacitors. I believe that they have bleed resistors, so they will have discharged within about a minute. So a...
