Re: PIP-4048MS inverter

Perhaps the 119 V is real, and is different from the voltage of the battery terminals because your battery fuse (either a real 200 A fuse, or a roughly 200 A fusible link) is blown. Weber has pointed out to me that this is unlikely, since you have probably been using your inverter-charger with the ...

Re: PIP-4048MS inverter

I hadn't paid much attention to Fault Mode firmware code, since fortunately I haven't seen faults very often. It seems that there is a 30 second timeout, so when in fault mode, the power supply will turn off if there is no charge source (AC input or PV). This is presumably to save the battery, thoug...

Battery yes, PV doesn't matter. [ Edit: it helps prevent shutdown after 30s; see next few posts. ]

Re: PIP-4048MS inverter

can you explain to me how I can update / reset my opti-solar. As Weber pointed out, the WatchPower program is unlikely to use the REEP command; it's more likely to use the PF command, which I believe won't do the job of resetting an internal flash value that is used to calibrate the battery voltage...

Re: PIP-4048MS inverter

i scrolled through the display settings, the battery voltage say 119v :-( My apologies. It seems that battery voltages up to 999 V can be displayed. My only suggestion is that the battery sense resistors or some other part of the battery voltage sense circuit have been damaged, presumably during th...

Re: PIP-4048MS inverter

in the display where there is battery information, it gives me a voltage of 119 volts !!!!! The LC Display of the inverter model we know shows the battery voltage as NN.N, so a maximum of 99.9 V. How did you see the 119 V figure? [ Edit: I was wrong. Up to 999 V can be displayed by removing the dec...

Re: PIP-4048MS inverter

Is there a possibility for custom firmware for the 3024MSE?. I agree with Weber's comments. However, I note that the MS E series, being "economy" models, aren't parallelable. So they should not have the major charge bug, which is in a function associated with parallel operation. In fact, I believe ...

Re: Brighsun 220Ah cells

I found 16mm M8 bolts on ebay. Bolt Stainless Steel Metric Coarse. $23 for 50. Same vendor had split washers too. You need standard M8, 1.25 mm thread pitch. I don't think that "coarse" is the right description for these, so check the Ebay description carefully. This Ebay item is for 20, very sligh...

Re: Brighsun 220Ah cells

Any suggestions on strapping the 400Ah cells? An easy way is a pair of aluminium plates at either end, and a pair of ratchet straps from Bunnings or elsewhere. [ Edit: You do need a bit of space in your box for the ratchet parts. ] It can even be made to work with odd-sized cells, but most of us wo...

So what is the best float and absorption settings and what voltage is 80% DOD?
For LFP, 80% DOD (20% SOC) is about 3.21 VPC, or about 48.2 V for 15S. That's rested, after mild discharge, as you would hopefully get in early morning when your battery might be running low.

Re: TC/Elcon 2013 Charger Troubleshooting and Repair

I finally figured out how to secure the L15 heatsink firmly, when the bolt and/or slot become worn and the bolt turns instead of being prevented by turning by the slot. L15 is the smaller of the two rectangular inductors on the battery side of the charger, and its heatsink is held between the PCB an...

Re: TC/Elcon 2013 Charger Troubleshooting and Repair

Back in September, The yellow gunk makes a good tell-tale indicator--it turns brown or black if exposed to a thermal source (and heat makes it easy to crumble off). So if a chip or capacitor has gotten hot it shows up. Amen to that, brother! I've noticed that a lot of the yellow gunk goes brown, and...

If you didn't power up the charger after the failed charge, that means that the relay opened (the input relay is across the ...
