Re: PIP-5048GE, PIP-5048GK and PIP-5048MG inverters (with unsafe SCC)

I understood that this 60A your are speaking about is not being pulled from the batteries at all, but there is a direct Solar -> Load. Only when the Solar is not sufficient for this 3kW, additional current is drawn from the batteries, correct? Yes, that's right. But as night falls, it's pretty much...

Re: PIP-5048GE, PIP-5048GK and PIP-5048MG inverters (with unsafe SCC)

Please complain to your reseller... I absolutely did!!! I sent a complaint to maximum_solar through ebay. Excellent, thanks! Looking at the manual of Polytech and MPPSolar here , they advise to set both bulk and float to 53,2 (=3,55v, so 56,8 for 16s or 14,2 per 12v). Do you think they would have d...

Re: PIP-5048GE, PIP-5048GK and PIP-5048MG inverters (with unsafe SCC)

I have been running my 5048MG now for half a year batteryless, charging our Renault Zoe electric car fine. 'Granny' cable with either 10A or 13A is working great: when the power is not there (clouds or so), the PIP lowers the Voltage, and the car even kept on charging under 100V! Wow. I think you'r...

Re: Service manuals

Alas, service manuals started getting hard to find about the same time as firmware update files, which was when the first clones started to appear. In my little collection of service manuals, I have nothing specific to any G series, and the only manual specific to 3 kVA models is from 2013.

Re: PIP-5048GE, PIP-5048GK and PIP-5048MG inverters (with unsafe SCC)

I note that if you were to use PIP-5048MKs instead of PIP-5048MGs, then in your 4 kW load scenario with 3 kW of PV power would in fact result in using 1 kW of utility power, IF the inverter was in line mode. In the PIP-5048MK, line mode is different from bypass mode. Bypass mode on both models conne...

David from France, new on this forum. Hi, David. Welcome to the forum. I think to buy 3 PIP-5048MG with 42 solar panel 32V/9.3A 300W to have two strings from 7 panels on each inverter (224V/18.6A/4200W). Is it ok with solar power or is it to high ? Voltronic power have recently seen the light, and ...

I also need to be able to divide them electrically into two equal (or nearly-equal) half packs, for charging. Are you wanting to retain the "max ELV between any two points with the power off" criterion as well? That means a contactor every 29 cells max (using 4.1 V as the maximum cell voltage). I t...

the no load consumption of 192W (which seems terrible) , but I think I'll go with them with the PV3000MPK 24V version. 192 W is more than your fridge! It's a ridiculous solution since I need the invereter mostly to run the 120W fridge, and very seldom for some workshop tools. It seems to me with yo...

Would be any feedback, review, fix or hack about the MUST SOLAR ? I only know of the Must near-clones of Axpert inverters; there have been a few posts about those. I can't immediately find many; "Must" is not a particularly unique search word :( It's not much to go on, but here are two from the Sou...

Re: Is anyone using an arc welder with an offgrid system

Good point ! I'm a little confused about power factor, kVA and kW. But in the PIP-4024 datasheet they don't actually specify it's PF=1, but still they don't say anything about kVA ! Choosing an inverter, you need to make a lot of guessing . . . ! Even asking, you don't always have a clear answer. F...

Re: Is anyone using an arc welder with an offgrid system

The biggest point from now is that I've no feedback from the LF inverter from MUST SOLAR. The Must brand causes a few of us to bristle, because they were the original illegal cloners of Voltronic Power / MPPSolar products. But their other products may be fine. If the MPP PIP-4024 and PIP-4048 have ...

Re: Is anyone using an arc welder with an offgrid system

I think you'd be better off with an inverter with an old style big low frequency iron transformer in it, like a Victron. They have a better surge rating, and it seems to me that several of your intended loads will have significant inrush current. It's difficult to measure inrush current, but for mos...

The on/off switch on the bottom makes it power up and I can hear the odd relay click, but there's no AC output and it turns off again after a minute. The on/off switch has two electrical functions. One is to turn on the power supply via a capacitor; that part seems to be working. The other part is ...

All my PIP-5048MK units is marked to made 11 2018. So, are those pretty first product ones? No, I think they've been around for well over a year. Also, yours is PF1 (5 kW), the first ones were PF0.8 (4 kW). Also, you seem to have PWM models (M K versus M S ). Is that what you intended? [ Edit: Ugh!...
