Re: New open source AC controller available

Anyone looking to build a DIY 3-phase inverter - I have some brand new 600V 600A IGBT half-bridge modules for sale. These units would be perfect for a ~150kW+ motor controller. Single qty: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/302416087242? Box of 6: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/302416078271? Also have matching ...

Lucky it's the one close to their head-office!
Have there been problems with others too? I wonder whats causing it.

why not have regen kick in quarter/half when 0% throttle, and full when either front or rear brake pedals are pressed (&& 0% throttle)?

Tesla Motors goes "open source"

Yeh I agree. Most of the real technology is kept as trade secret - Elon has mentioned this before regarding why SpaceX don't patent their technology. Patents don't really protect you anyway (as they mention in the article). Still its somewhat a good thing I guess... except now that they won't be pur...

In our cases, the above scenarios have resulted in the inverter disconnecting the pack when a fault occurred, so no heavy regen or overcharging. Not saying that this would be the case for all scenarios though. I would say it still isn't relinquishing control though, especially if it's opening the m...

Not a good option either. You're still halting the stator vector (if not more than before because now the the currents cant even drain out of the FWDs), and you'll be trying to stop current through an inductor - you're going to get a massive voltage spike which will probably reach break down of the...

Working on a solution so this won't happen again - it's a big safety concern Full negative torque... That would just about lock up my rear wheels at 100km/h. The only way I can see to stop it would be to have a contactor between the motor and controller. Not a good option either. You're still halti...

In fault state it is no longer controlling the 6 pulse bridge for motor current field weakening. Had this happen to me the other day except in an induction motor http://forums.aeva.asn.au/smileys/smiley11.gif Doesn't matter if in the field weakening region or not, you're effectively halting the sta...

Nice one!
What IGBT bricks are you using? Have you done much high power testing yet?

Did you end up getting FOC working, or are you still using scalar/slip?

Next, we cut the front heads using a small grinder. We used a cutting disc, very thin. Initially, the disc was too wide to enter the motor. We cut some old iron until the diameter was reduced a few milimeters. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-Zw-d3Guiv90/UeOdpT8FFiI/AAAAAAAAATg/IIMqqxy6BX4/s640/c...

was quoting Stiive, 13th June earlier in this thread. I didn't think Hunter EV festival had any races for fully fledged race cars and is unusual to call a 20min race an enduro, hence interested to find out what he was referring to. Ah, that is the Formula SAE competition in Werribee (Melbourne), in...

Required qualifications for EV installation work

Some might find this interesting. I had been concerned that I could not install EV equipment for a client without relevant electrician licenses. For instance, at a work site, you're not allowed to disconnect or reconnect a line motor without a license - however an EV is not a fixed installation and ...

Firstly, congrats! Looks awesome, and fast. We are also using Kokam. Will be running peaks of 12C, a relatively high average and will be using a lot of regen. What vehicle set-up were you running on the dyno.....and how long were you pulling 10C? Induction motor was in the car (open wheel racer). Re...
