Re: Charging using SETEC portable Chademo

I am sure I read somewhere of someone with a failed onboard charger /dc-dc converter successfully charging via chademo. It was probably on the my i-miev forum, there are several threads there on similar failures. It may depend on your individual failure though. Is it definitely the dc-dc part of you...

Mitsubishi have now given us a diesel ASX to drive around in while we wait. Latest ETA for the part is end of august.

Re: Pipistrel electric aeroplane - in Perth!

Would be interesting to see what the maintenance schedule is for one. They have had a lot of practice working it out for ICE where they have pretty rigid inspection and replacement schedules. I wonder if they have something similar. The keep using it until it breaks approach is generally frowned upo...

Re: Emergency spare wheel

I think the advice that quick plugs are temporary is overly cautious disclaimers to try to ward off lawyers. I have used the cord type plugs several times and they have always lasted the life of the tyre, including on motorcyles putting 100hp+ through one 140mm tyre. Last one was on the i-MiEV, whic...

Re: e-nv200

You are right, normal seatbelts. Makes it quite appealing if it can take 5 passengers when needed.
I suspect the range is less than 170. One review says 80 miles range indicated, which would be about 130km.

e-nv200

First sighting of the grey import Nissan e-nv200 van on carsales 5000km, $29000. I wonder if it is actually complianced yet. Surprised they would let the rear seat with lap-only belts through. https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/Nissan-e-NV200-2015/OAG-AD-15925722/?ret=search-alert&utm_source=i...

Re: iMiev stopped with RR showing 7km's and 2 bars

Mine stopped with 7km rr showing once, but it was down to zero bars. I got it home by turning it off, waiting a couple of minutes, turning it on again and going until it shut down. Repeating this over and over got me from 1km away to 50m from home before finally having to push. Not sure if it is har...

Re: Emergency spare wheel

Forgot to mention the i-MiEV also has a little compressor, which is probably the most useful bit. For the typical slow leak that will allow you to pump it up and get home or to a tyre shop. Not a bad little unit, I've actually borrowed it for beach driving in the Delica and was surprised how quickly...

Re: Emergency spare wheel

The i-MiEV has no spare, and it seems quite reasonable, since the range is so limited. I think if you are only driving in the city not having a spare is a reasonable risk. Modern tyres seem to be pretty good, most punctures seem to be from a screw or nail making a slow leak. I have added a plug type...

Re: 10kW Motorbike Conversion

Why not get the 17" rim? it would probably get you a better selection of tyres too. Shouldn't be any problem fitting as the 17" tyres are generally lower profile.

Edit - I see from the ad it is actually a really wide 17" rim, so may have problems fitting in an older 250.

Re: Hyundai Australia Kona EV info

It is that simple, I didn't say the Kona would be $67,000 in Australia, I just posted what the NZ price is in Australian dollars, in case other people were interested. That is what it would cost in Australian dollars if you go to New Zealand and buy one. At the moment you can't buy one in Australia.

You think they might have recalled it after shipping it? Possible, but you'd think they'd have mentioned it to me to avoid looking incompetent.

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

Replacement charger was supposed to arrive on the 27 July - no word from Paceway, so I gave them a call today. They tell me that the part is discontinued and they need to order the new version with a new part number, which also needs to come from Japan. No coherent explanation as to why they had to ...

Re: Zoe on steep hills

Good to hear. It would be interesting to know if an i-MiEV could make it up, I think it could once moving, but would be concerned the soft start they have programmed into it might prevent it moving from a standstill. Has handled everything we've thrown at it easily so far though, so the soft start m...

Re: Aftermarket iMiEV battery upgrade project

A 20 kWh iMiEV is actually quite reasonable considering they were never exactly a highway cruiser... I'd be much more interested in a cheap 20kwh i-miEv than an expensive 47kwh one. We rarely do more than 50km/day. Most of the longer trips we use the ICE for also require more space, comfort and gro...

Rate setter do peer to peer lending for 'green' loans at lower than their standard rates, but they pay around 6.5% to lenders, so I guess must charge borrowers a lot more. Loans.com.au were cheapest when I was looking for house loans a few years ago too. Worked out fine for me. There is a loans.com....

The car! icon can indicate a whole range of things. I had it come up just because I blew the tail light fuse. Ours drives normally, but doesn't charge, so definitely a different problem to yours. There are some people around with clones of the mitsubishi analyser devices. I recommend checking out th...
