Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

My wife is determined to sell it whether it is fixed or not. I'm hoping to change her mind, once it is fixed, as I like it. I'm not sure if replacing the charger would be enough, there may be something more to convincing the i-Miev's computer that the charger is good and allowing it to charge. It al...

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

I believe the i-MiEV charges the 12v from the traction battery whenever it is being driven. I think that Teslas periodically charge the 12v from the traction battery even when turned off, which would be nice to avoid the situation you can get with the i-Miev, when after a holiday you come back to a ...

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

Just called again and this time they mentioned DC-DC charger, which suggests it might be the DC-DC converter, hence the comments about 12v battery, though I don't know why that would stop the main battery from charging. The guy I talked to didn't have much idea. My wife wants a more anonymous car an...

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

Yeah, first option is to see if MMAL will replace it free of charge. Second is to pull out the 'diamond advantage used car warranty' certificate they gave me with the car, which says the warranty is extended to 2020. Third would be to look at whether someone can repair or replace it for less than $4...

Yes, I wish I thought to ask for the old charger when they did the recall. Never had any problems with that one.

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

Paceway say the onboard charger is faulty and needs to be replaced (about $4000). The charger was replaced about a year ago in a recall, so they are contacting Mitsubishi Australia to see if it can be done under warranty even though the car is out of warranty. Hope that doesn't take as long as I fea...

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

The 12V battery appeared to be OK. Since it was about the only thing I was able to experiment with I removed and charged it and hooked it up again any. It was reading about 13V after charging and that didn't seem to make any difference. The car runs absolutely normally, I drove it to Paceway Mitsubi...

i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

Our i-MiEV has just started displaying the high voltage (car with !) and low voltage (red battery) warning lights. It also will not charge. If you plug in the standard charging cable the high voltage light comes on and after a couple of seconds it turns off and does not charge. I suspect what I am g...

Do we even know what charge port the ioniqs coming to australia will have yet? Assuming they ever do actually bring them here.

Re: Lithium Starter Batteries

I put a commercial LFP replacement starter battery in my motorbike quite some time ago. The original actually died in a couple of years, but I did get a warranty replacement and the new one seems to be going great. Sits behind the airbox under the seat, probably better for heat stress than a car eng...

Chris is keen to build a double range pack for someone. He is a lot further than Southport though.

I think you get a free battery when you sign up for that Tariff. If your friend is making that much money from his power exports he is likely on a high feed in tariff, which may get cancelled if he installs a battery. I don't know what the situation is in Queensland, but he would need to look carefu...

That is not much to do with it being a 10A plug, 15A plugs will do the same. Have a look at this thread for examples.

Re: 2011 nissan leaf

I don't think it can be done. You can't generally legally import 2nd hand cars yourself unless you owned it overseas. There is an exemption for specialty vehicles, but it won't allow any model that was available in Australia (e.g. I have a Delica D;5 4wd van import, it is not legal to import the 2WD...

Re: Tyres??

Guessometer range seems to have dropped about 10% since getting the continentals. The rears are not "eco" models, and the fronts are a little wider, so could be less efficient. There would be some loss in reported range due to the unworn tyres being larger (ie. reported km are a little longer than t...

Yes the 3112 is the standard australian plug, though technically the name applies to a range of australian plugs as above link. I think most of those on plugshare are standard 15A sockets.

Re: iMiev won't start!

It may not have to do much work, but it is a major hassle when it doesn't do the one small job it needs to. I'd put a new one in. 4 years is about the expected life for a lead acid car battery anyway. All the 2010s in WA seemed to have completely flat batteries due to sitting around between the init...

Yes, I just paid $520 for 4, so about half that. No negotiation, just paid the quoted price from the nearest dealer on the continental tyres australian webpage.

Have you tried looking for the options discussed in this thread, Kumho's seem to be available cheapish on tyresales.com.au and elsewhere. The 10mm wider option (155/60) may be easier to find than stock too, seems to fit very well.

The 12v doesn't get charged by the traction battery when the imiev is turned off, it just goes flat and won't start it.

Re: i-MiEV Range *no discussion*

Thought I would post some EV+ battery condition readings in here.
2010 i-Miev
in March 2016, 30,000km condition 80%, capacity 38.4Ah
in Dec 2017, 45,000km condition 74.38% capacity 35.7 Ah

Range according to the meter still typically varies between 80 and 100km fully charged.

Just put Continental eco contacts on our 2010 i-MIEV, $520 for a full set from continental best drive in Thomas St Subiaco. Didn't choose the best day for it, as access to shop was cut off by the fire in Kings Park this morning, but they opened the road by lunch time. Had 46750km on the original rea...
