Re: Wanting to get my iMiEV serviced. Advice?

I have had some really cheap batteries not last long, a few months. You should be able to start the car even with a completely flat key battery, reverse the key and put it back into the fob and it should work as a transponder. I think the 2010s do have an additional immobiliser fitted as well though...

Re: Wanting to get my iMiEV serviced. Advice?

Any car service place can probably do the basic checks and wheel alignment. Electric diagnostics needs a specialised setup, and even the non i-MiEV accredited Mitsubishi dealers don't seem to know what to do with the output. Not sure if the accreddited dealers are better, but you'd like to think so....

Re: Wanting to get my iMiEV serviced. Advice?

It is the width that is the problem, not the length.

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

Good news! We have finally heard back from Mitsubishi (took over a month). They are going to replace the charger under warranty. Just need to wait a few more weeks for the part to arrive from Japan, then a bit longer for it to be fitted. They did not say whether it was approved because of the extend...

Based on others experiences you might also go through a few onboard charger and DC-DC converters and Motor Control units, assuming Mitsubishi agree to sell you them and code them to the car.

Re: iMiev Recall notice

In ICE cars you have to pull off a panel and stick a screwdriver in the hole to release it from park without power. A similar setup could work for EV for those rare emergency cases.

Re: 2012 imiev

Two 20,000km iMievs were just listed on carsales for around $15,000 (car dealer in Vic). The 2012 listed is also around $15k but higher km, it has been on there quite a few weeks, so is probably not underpriced.

The exciting thing about the Zoe is that you can actually buy one, if you have the desire, and the money. I suppose you could move to NZ if you want an Ioniq.

I thought it was half the price of the cheapest Teslas, and should be comparable to the Model3 if it ever gets here.

I haven't read the whole thread yet, but it looks like the blown fuse may be a symptom, not a cause, it blew again after replacement.

Nice work finding the fuse issue.

I did notice ours seemed to have not fully charged a few times in the weeks before the problem.

I saw the Zoe at Melville Renault this afternoon, looks very nice. They also have the Kangoo. Said they need to get them registered before test drives are available, probably later this week. I just wish the price was about half.

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

My wife is determined to sell it whether it is fixed or not. I'm hoping to change her mind, once it is fixed, as I like it. I'm not sure if replacing the charger would be enough, there may be something more to convincing the i-Miev's computer that the charger is good and allowing it to charge. It al...

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

I believe the i-MiEV charges the 12v from the traction battery whenever it is being driven. I think that Teslas periodically charge the 12v from the traction battery even when turned off, which would be nice to avoid the situation you can get with the i-Miev, when after a holiday you come back to a ...

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

Just called again and this time they mentioned DC-DC charger, which suggests it might be the DC-DC converter, hence the comments about 12v battery, though I don't know why that would stop the main battery from charging. The guy I talked to didn't have much idea. My wife wants a more anonymous car an...

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

Yeah, first option is to see if MMAL will replace it free of charge. Second is to pull out the 'diamond advantage used car warranty' certificate they gave me with the car, which says the warranty is extended to 2020. Third would be to look at whether someone can repair or replace it for less than $4...
