Re: RETROFIT SOUND GENERATOR FOR EV?

What would you expect them to do other than look and continue on their way? If you could clearly see them and weren't about to collide with them.

Re: RETROFIT SOUND GENERATOR FOR EV?

I bought something similar from Jaycar and attempted to install it by connecting to the reverse light wiring, but broke the car completely. I had a bit of a panic but eventually worked out I had just blown the fuse for the reversing lights, and replacing that had everything working again. After that...

That won't fit an i-MiEV - completely different shaped globe.

Re: Importing a Leaf into Western Australia

Not sure how great warranties are anyway. My recent experience with the i-Miev was it took 7 months to get fixed under warranty. Other people with the same issue fixed it in a few weeks for less than the cost of 7 months rego and insurance. You could certainly get a lot of repairs done with the $20,...

Re: Importing a Leaf into Western Australia

Seems to be about $20,000 cheaper for the Leaf based carsales. Imports do have their issues though, took over a year to get the Takata airbags fixed on our import Delica. I quite like the Japanese sat nav, the maps there are so much more interesting than Perth, lots of mountains and islands. I am st...

Re: Electrikhana.org

Unfortunately our firewall at work blocks access to all newly registered domains, quite a common thing apparently as most dodgy domains don't last long. I can't remember how long we need to wait.

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

The reassuring thing is we've gone from stories of being unable to fix anything due to VIN locking to seeing examples of quite a few people fixing things themselves.

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

I have the impression the dramas we've had are not so much due to having an electric car, but due to having a rare car.

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

Yes, they did speculate on that in their notes, but from what I've read it seems it is very common for that fuse to need replacing when the charger fails, and it is actually a fuse for the charger despite being located with the MCU. I think some people claimed to have fixed the charging issue by jus...

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

No, the last thing was the fuse, they mention that their diagnostics process did not suggest checking it, although I think others have said that manual does. I thought they said they had checked it much earlier, but may there have been some confusion over which fuse.

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

I have the invoices from the dealer now, and it looks like it was just the charger and the MCU fuse replaced, so pretty much the standard failure, just delayed a lot getting parts from Japan.

I actually thought I saw an I-Pace parked in my street last week, but turned out to be an E-Pace, presumably the E stands for Exhaust.

Re: FS - 2011 imiev - $17k - Perth WA

To expand on Joseph's post. Both are screenshots from android apps that connect to the car via a bluetooth obd dongle. They are not accessible from the car itself. My impression is that the Canion is very picky about what bluetooth dongle is required, even with a recommended dongle it wouldn't stay ...

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

I have the i-MiEV back! Still nice to drive. Paceway have serviced it and cleaned it up nicely to make up for the 7 months in their yard. Unfortunately my wife has moved on to another car, and we don't really have space for 3 cars so I now need to sell it. I asked about the replaced charger, but the...

Re: Total Cost of Ownership - ICE and EV

Leaf has lost $32,000 and Pulsar has lost only $17,000. But the Leaf looks good in percentage terms. I think the drop from the new price (how many actually paid that much) which reflects to some degree the cost of making them, to the second hand market price is quite big, but from there on the decli...

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

It's under warranty, no charge, so I figure they are entitled to keep it if they want to. But if it is just going in the bin, I'd be happy to "dispose" of it for them.

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

Paceway just called and said our i-MIEV is fixed and charging with no errors. Very happy to hear it. They say will do a few more checks and test drive so we should get it back early next week.

I'll ask again whether I can keep the failed charger when picking it up (if they even still have it).
