Re: Hyundai Australia Kona EV info

Yeah, not expecting the Model 3 any time soon, but information on the Kona's availability seems even more vague.

Re: Hyundai Australia Kona EV info

Tesla actually sell EVs in Australia already, and have a history of bringing them here in a reasonable time from overseas release. Hyundai have no track record at all, I hope they really do end up selling their EVs here.

Are those the LED ones like the 2010, or the halogen like the 2012?

I found the my i-miev thread.

Seems like he just had no issue with the VIN locking, but no real insight into why some people get the lock and some don't.

Phil, did you ask about what happened to your original charger they replaced? I'm now seeing reports they can be swapped without VIN locking problems.

Re: i-miev DC/DC converter failure, not what we expected.

Just saw this posted on the i-miev facebook group by Jay Donnaway Looks like VIN locking may not be an issue for the converter/charger. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm at over 141,000 km and just had my first component failure. The dc-...

Re: I-MiEV Main battery cell failure

Is the turtle exclusive to the i-MiEV or carried over from the i?
Never had it come on in ours, even when it had obviously gone into a reduced power mode.
Is there any official documentation about it from Mitsubishi?
I think I looked in the handbook and didn't find anything.

Incredibles electric motorbike

:ugeek: Just saw the Incredibles 2 movie, and was pleased to see it features a cool electric motorbike.

It is portrayed very positively. It doesn't run out of charge, though admittedly does end in a good explosion (with extreme provocation).

I wonder if the key is getting one from a Citroen? The badge engineering might extend to exempting them from some of the mitsubishi software.

Re: i-miev DC/DC converter failure, not what we expected.

Yes but mine ion is the charger unit broken i have also an i-miev i changed the dcdc charger box a couple of years ago with a used one Can you tell us more about that? I have the impression from things posted here that it was very difficult or impossible to put in a used one due to the VIN locking.

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

Paceway actually called me for the first time. Nice to have an update. Unfortunately the update is more waiting. Part due to be delivered on 27 July, then about a week to get it installed. So about 4 months off the road if all goes well. Replacement car has already clocked up 1,500km.

Re: Interesting issue affecting private imports

The first batch of i-MiEvs (2010) had 2 pins missing from the J1772, which sounds like the same. Many have been modified, I heard it was not difficult, but don't know, mine came that way. Not sure if it is a full fix, but enough to work with the public J1772 chargers. Wouldn't you need to go through...

Tyre pressures didn't help with ours. Looking forward to finding out if the charger/DC converter replacement fixes it.

Re: i-miev DC/DC converter failure, not what we expected.

I'm a bit tempted to try it on mine while waitng for the parts. It is parked 7km from a Chademo charger, and I think has about 30km range left. Has been sitting there so long the 12v battery has probably gone flat though.

Re: i-miev DC/DC converter failure, not what we expected.

Have you considered what Matt suggested for ours - buy a home Chademo and just charge it from DC? Not ideal, but may give you a working car. There apparently are some small low powered ones available around the $2,000 range. This is assuming it will still charge from DC - it is possible that the com...

Re: I-MiEVs for sale

The EVSE charging is nice to have, but not that big a deal - sounds like it is not terribly expensive to get the mod done yourself. We have hardly used it in the 3 years we have had ours - it gets used on shopping centre chargers, but we've only ever used them just because they are there or for conv...

Re: I-MiEVs for sale

You'd have to really want to drive. Without DC fast chargers you'd be looking at 5+hours charging for every hours driving. Probably quicker to go at 60kph down the back roads and spend less time charging than try to do motorway speeds.

Re: I-MiEVs for sale

The DC-DC and Onboard AC charger are the one unit. Ours continued driving fine, but displayed both the high voltage warning light (triangle around excalamation mark) and low voltage warning light (red battery). It also would not charge when plugged in. It is pretty obvious and I think it is very unl...
