Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

Paceway have now done all their diagnostics and say it points to a problem with the EV-ECU which they want to replace as the next step. They are currently working out whether they want me to pay for that or not. I'm a bit worried that it is not actually the problem, and will result in another couple...

Re: EV Buyers Guide – choosing an EV type that suits you

I forgot to mention my 3rd motor vehicle. I would really like to have an electric motorbike. This only needs about 50km range but needs to do that at 100kph as it would mainly be used for a freeway commute. Also needs to be fun to ride and accellerate similar to KTM 390 in the 0-60kph range. This se...

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

They say they have checked the fuse and it is OK, working through 3 pages of manual checklists and getting external assistance, devoting tomorrow just to our car.
What happens if they can't fix it?

Re: EV Buyers Guide – choosing an EV type that suits you

We currently have 2 cars, so one only needs to drive around town. Key requirements for that one are -Price under $15000 -Range around 100km -Reliable -easy to park -Take at least 4 people Overriding this is that my wife needs to like it, since she is the main driver, currently says no more EVs until...

I think the guy I've been talking to is a customer service type position, not a mechanic, so wouldn't read too much into what he said.

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

Paceway said ours is giving the same error code but from a different location I think. They only have one technician who can work on the i-MiEV so not doing any more until Tuesday, but did say they had succeeded in getting more information.

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

Yes, as you noticed it is warranty. Slightly annoying they won't let me have the part, but very nice that I am not paying for the new one. Assuming they can actually get the car going again.

Seems to say $20 + $30 for shipping. I've not bought anything from them, but seen the site mentioned on the Delica forums.

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

If it is the fuse I will see if I can convince them to fly it, and maybe throw in another one or two. Mitsubishi Australia are quite apologetic over how long it has been, but not sure what they can actually do.

I hope they are not going to make us wait another 2 months. Fuse doesn't look big enough to require a ship to transport.

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

They just said there is a software problem, no details. They are supposed to be giving me an update tomorrow, I can ask about the motor controller fuse then, is that a problem you had? It was running fine before swapping the charger, just not charging.

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

Paceway have now put all the new bits in the car, unfortunately the computer still says no. They say are trying to find someone with a hard copy of the manual, and say they will give me an update on Friday! Not sure why they need a paper copy of the manual, perhaps because the electronic one seems t...

Re: Aftermarket iMiEV battery upgrade project

Looks like I shouldn't try to sell my i-MiEV to Chris for Kat's "reliable car" as it would end up in pieces in the garage before long.

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

As above, they said because it was a goodwill warranty they would keep it. I think if we paid for it like you they would be hard pressed to not allow us to have it. They might have just not wanted to commit to it, I'll ask again when it is fixed.

Similar with the e-NV200; if I can see evidence that any dealers have them new or used, There are two e-NV200s on carsales.com.au at the moment. This link should give all the electric vehicles currently listed (54) https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/dealer/private/demo/electric-fueltype/?sortby=~Pric...

Re: Total Cost of Ownership - ICE and EV

As RAC say, the biggest cost is depreciation, so an EV should compare well to a similarly priced ICE, but poorly compared to a similarly specced ICE which is half the price. If it is going to be your last car, that may not concern you. Electricity cost and insurance should be pretty easy to work out...

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

They said it needs to be returned to Japan for analysis because it is a warranty claim, but I suspect you might be right about the dumpster. Or maybe they take it back for the $150 fix and sell it as a new one for $4500.

Yay, our replacement charger has arrived, now being fitted by Paceway.

I asked if we could keep the old charger and they said No.

Re: EVs available in Australia (list)

I think the Fonzarelli's are still available new, they sent me an email last week. Should grey imports be a separate category? You have the minicab i-MiEV there, Nissan e-NV200 and some later model Leafs have also been imported. I think there are a few european plug in hybrids missing too, definitel...

Similar to my situation with the i-MiEV, I'd like to keep it once it is repaired, but my wife already bought a (non EV) replacement, and I prefer bicycle or motorbike for most things within i-MiEV range.

I'm hoping to have our i-MiEV on the market in a week or so. Parts supposedly on the way from Sydney. It has been 100% reliable except when it broke down.

Re: PHEV Loss of Km Range with Battery.

IMHO, Mitsubishi were partly responsible for our problem as I believe it was likely to have been present through at least one service and they didn't pick it up. You must be wrong because the internet tells me that EVs don't require any servicing. The battery plugs are not moving parts so couldn't ...

I called up Mitsubishi today and have been told the replacement charger is now in Australia, on its way from Sydney to Perth, so a chance of being back on the road this month.
