Re: Interesting issue affecting private imports

The first batch of i-MiEvs (2010) had 2 pins missing from the J1772, which sounds like the same. Many have been modified, I heard it was not difficult, but don't know, mine came that way. Not sure if it is a full fix, but enough to work with the public J1772 chargers. Wouldn't you need to go through...

Re: Wanting to get my iMiEV serviced. Advice?

Tyre pressures didn't help with ours. Looking forward to finding out if the charger/DC converter replacement fixes it.

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

After 3 weeks, I called to see if the part had arrived (previous estimate 2 to 3 weeks), but now they say it takes 5 to 6 weeks.

Re: i-miev DC/DC converter failure, not what we expected.

I'm a bit tempted to try it on mine while waitng for the parts. It is parked 7km from a Chademo charger, and I think has about 30km range left. Has been sitting there so long the 12v battery has probably gone flat though.

Re: i-miev DC/DC converter failure, not what we expected.

Have you considered what Matt suggested for ours - buy a home Chademo and just charge it from DC? Not ideal, but may give you a working car. There apparently are some small low powered ones available around the $2,000 range. This is assuming it will still charge from DC - it is possible that the com...

I see there is a $13,000 one in Vic on car sales now, sounds a lot like ours except for the rather battered doors.

Re: I-MiEVs for sale

The EVSE charging is nice to have, but not that big a deal - sounds like it is not terribly expensive to get the mod done yourself. We have hardly used it in the 3 years we have had ours - it gets used on shopping centre chargers, but we've only ever used them just because they are there or for conv...

Re: I-MiEVs for sale

You'd have to really want to drive. Without DC fast chargers you'd be looking at 5+hours charging for every hours driving. Probably quicker to go at 60kph down the back roads and spend less time charging than try to do motorway speeds.

Re: I-MiEVs for sale

The DC-DC and Onboard AC charger are the one unit. Ours continued driving fine, but displayed both the high voltage warning light (triangle around excalamation mark) and low voltage warning light (red battery). It also would not charge when plugged in. It is pretty obvious and I think it is very unl...

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

Did you ask about getting it done under "goodwill" warranty? They ended up approving it for us, though I do not know if it was only because it had been recently replaced in a recall, or if it was to do with the used car warranty extension we had.

Re: I-MiEVs for sale

Both 2010 and 2012s have DC fast charging. The difference is in the AC charger. The stock 2010s were missing the wiring to charge from public slow chargers , they could only use the supplied cord. Quite a few have since been modified. There are a few threads on it here. Ours had a card in the handbo...

Re: I-MiEVs for sale

Seems to be a few around with dead on board chargers - should be fairly obvious due to warning lights and not being able to charge. Ours will be for sale when that is replaced (hopefully soon) but it is in Perth, so even further to truck.

Re: How does one buy a Zero in Australia?

I figured I'd wait for a second hand one to come up, but it could be a long wait. No results on my saved searches in over a year I think. I wonder if them having had ADR approval makes it harder or easier to import one?

Re: Wanting to get my iMiEV serviced. Advice?

I have had some really cheap batteries not last long, a few months. You should be able to start the car even with a completely flat key battery, reverse the key and put it back into the fob and it should work as a transponder. I think the 2010s do have an additional immobiliser fitted as well though...

Re: Wanting to get my iMiEV serviced. Advice?

Any car service place can probably do the basic checks and wheel alignment. Electric diagnostics needs a specialised setup, and even the non i-MiEV accredited Mitsubishi dealers don't seem to know what to do with the output. Not sure if the accreddited dealers are better, but you'd like to think so....

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

Good news! We have finally heard back from Mitsubishi (took over a month). They are going to replace the charger under warranty. Just need to wait a few more weeks for the part to arrive from Japan, then a bit longer for it to be fitted. They did not say whether it was approved because of the extend...

Based on others experiences you might also go through a few onboard charger and DC-DC converters and Motor Control units, assuming Mitsubishi agree to sell you them and code them to the car.

Re: iMiev Recall notice

In ICE cars you have to pull off a panel and stick a screwdriver in the hole to release it from park without power. A similar setup could work for EV for those rare emergency cases.
