Re: MG ZS EV
According to this article: https://www.whichcar.com.au/car-news/mg-2020-sales-boom MG sold over 15,000 vehicles in Australia last year. I think the EV at its current price will sell well in the next couple of years. I guess the more of these vehicles on the road, the more parts will become available...
Re: MG ZS EV
I've had this car now for 2500kms. and the only negative about the vehicle is that you cannot buy any sort of spare wheel for it, either space saver or full size. My local dealer in Perth searches by model or VIN and can't supply me with anything. Aside from that I've done a few day trips in typical...
Re: MG ZS EV
It's on pages 144/145. Charging Port Electronic Lock In order to prevent the charging connector and cable being disconnected inadvertently during charging, the charging socket features an electronic locking mechanism. The electronic lock is activated as soon as the vehicle is locked, and remains in ...
Re: MG ZS EV
Turn off the power at the charger. Unlock the MG. The car's charging port should then unlock. If all else fails there is a way of releasing the cable by opening the bonnet. That information is in the manual.
Re: MG ZS EV
Not yet Joseph. I played around yesterday on AC chargers at Alkimos, Wanneroo and Joondalup. I'm going down to Mandurah today. I'll see if there are any Destination chargers on the way.
Re: MG ZS EV
According to the people at evse.com.au who supply the chargers for the MG the charger supplied is locked to 8 amp.
Re: MG ZS EV
I picked up the car this morning and drove about 40 km. home. Everything looks great, lots of safety gear. MG Pilot worked well on the freeway keeping in the lane and staying a set distance from the vehicle in front. I now have it charging on the Zappi wall charger in eco plus mode where it is takin...
Re: MG ZS EV
Mine is the Pimlico Blue. How about the one you ordered? I haven't looked into front sensors. At $749 I will stick to my usual guesswork and do without. I haven't looked in to tinting yet. For a type 2 cable I might grab one from Gemtek, they sound like very decent people.
Re: MG ZS EV
Bugger, you would think that they would have the most recent software installed, seeing as the cars have just left the factory.
Re: MG ZS EV
It seems the MG has arrived with a 15 amp granny charger supplied, so customers will have to wait for 10 amp units to arrive. The dealer informs me that the cars will not have a type 2 to type 2 cable in the boot. Does anyone have any suggestions for where in Perth or online I can get hold of a cable?
Re: MG ZS EV
Yep, it looks like mine will be here in Perth next week.
Re: MG ZS EV
I don't think anyone in Australia has a MG ZS EV yet. I spoke to City MG in Sydney yesterday and they say they have some sitting on the dock at Port Kembla. I'm in Perth and our sole dealer doesn't have any concrete news at all. AFAIK with Tesla destination chargers, some will work some won't. Maybe...

Labor say there is no way that tax will pass through parliament.
Re: MG ZS EV
On some Youtube videos I have seen that if you charge the MG from say around 10% on a 100kW charger you might get 85kW for five minutes or so but then the rate drops to 50kW until 80%
When my car finally shows up I will take a drive down to Australind and test it out on the new ultra rapid charger.

Re: MG ZS EV
Aside from the price ($47,000 on the road) one of the main reasons I went for the MG is that it uses liquid cooling for thermal management of the battery in our hot summer climate.
The next step up would be a Kona for about $65,000 or a Tesla M3 for near $80,000.

Re: MG ZS EV
When the car finally arrives I will test it out on the Tesla chargers up at Alkimos and post results in the forum.
MG ZS EV
Sometime in the next few months I should be getting a MG ZS EV. I know it has limited range and therefore I am wondering what I need if I decide to travel a bit around South West WA. The fast chargers in this area are somewhat unreliable. Does anyone have any advice on any extra cables I might need?...

Re: Extension cords
I was just looking at an extension cord for occasional use. For example if I was at a caravan park (in a cabin) or at a friend's place.
On the subject of caravan parks, is it OK to plug a 10a EVSE into a 15a caravan plug?

Do you think this would do the trick for a granny charger?

Thanks Brendan,
it's nice to know that something might go that way in the future.

Re: Vehicle servicing by dealer, or find another option?
Hi Brendan,
I spoke to Joondalup Autospark but they only seemed to be interested if it concerned an electrical problem, rather than regular vehicle servicing. It's a pity because they are good guys up there.
