Re: How to troubleshoot battery pack ?

It is a 16S18P pack, so 288 cells suposely 1100mAh each.
So about 288 hours at 1A /1C ! I feel just discouraged at that point !

Re: How to troubleshoot battery pack ?

Well, I was afraid that was the only solution ! Of course I can do it despite they are all spot welded together ! I do think these large number // pack are not a good solution. I'll do it as I think otherwise the pack is really dead ! What tools do I need to properly work with batteries ? I mean how...

Re: How to troubleshoot battery pack ?

I think I understand what you're saying but : If there is 1 bad cell drawing current from other cells in //, isn't there a way to isolate that bad cell and save the rest of the battery pack ? Is it possible that this bad cell draw current from others cell only to a limit voltage, then stop drawing c...

How to troubleshoot battery pack ?

Hi. I have a DIY ebike with a 16S18P 18650 LiFePO4 chinese cells battery pack that is supposed to be 48V an 20Ah capacity. The ebike would quickly stop working because of Low Voltage protection acting because one of the raw is getting below 2.5V when the others are still at 3.2V The cell would recov...

Re: Is anyone using an arc welder with an offgrid system

Hi I finally received the new power PCB board from the seller. I installed it and the inverter works ok. Now , I need to install it with big 250A wire and test it with big power tools and see if it's ok. I also received the communication and remote control kit with a specific software. By now, I can...

Re: Is anyone using an arc welder with an offgrid system

Hi Dave. I connected the inverter with its big cable and plugged in the fridge. It's been working all the evening. I'm going to stop it for the night for safety and also because I don't have LOW VOLTAGE disconnect devices working by now to protect my LiFeYPO4. Still waiting for the seller to confirm...

Re: Is anyone using an arc welder with an offgrid system

Hi Dave. I found some cheap IRFB3206 on Ebay : https://www.ebay.fr/itm/5PCS-IRFB3206PBF-IRFB3206-IR-TO-220-HEXFET-Power-MOSFET/172023237166?hash=item280d624a2e:g:w74AAOSwbdpWZuDN I have no idea if I can trust or avoid those cheap ones and prefer buying some from a proper seler like Farnell, Mouser, ...

Re: Is anyone using an arc welder with an offgrid system

@Richo Well this big 6000W inverter is mostly for power tools, so I guess with only a small 100W motor, even with big inrush current, it should be able to start and run the fridge.

And as the failure was due to this broken GATE leg, there should be no cascade failure with such a small load.

Re: Is anyone using an arc welder with an offgrid system

@doggy I was too impatient to try with the constant current power supply, so, not waiting for your last message and advice, I slowly charge the capacitors, then adjust the voltage to 26V, constant current to 3A and turned it ON and .... it worked ! I then adjusted the power supply to its max current...

Re: Is anyone using an arc welder with an offgrid system

doggy , So I'll tell the seller I'm ok to replace the board when receiving the new one. I have only a small RUI DENG DP5005 power supply with constant current. I would be a little afraid to power a such big inverter with a so small device. One more observation I could say is : The inverter seemed t...

Hi all and thanks very much for your observations and valuable informations. The seller offer to send a new power board if I feel able to replace it on my own. I think I'm ok with the replacement. Should I be aware of any difficulties to replace it ? doggy Dave, Yes it seems to be the only damage, b...

Re: Is anyone using an arc welder with an offgrid system

The seller responded immediately and ask to check inside. I opened the case and found this : IMG_2378.JPG IMG_2377.JPG I knew about charging the capacitor, so I used a bulb like you said and waited for the voltage against the bulb to fall near 0V, then pugged the inverter to the battery. By the way,...

Re: Is anyone using an arc welder with an offgrid system

I just plugged in mine to check if it works and it went BANG ! There was some small arc welding noise inside, then bad electronic burned smell. It ran for 5-15 second at most. I had only time to read the voltage (26.1V) on the nice coloured screen, and output power (0.0W, normal as there was no load...

Re: Is anyone using an arc welder with an offgrid system

Hi Dave. I am also on 24V because of the Lithium battery BMS that was available only for 24v. And it's nice to run most of the house on DC24V (led light bulb, laptop with a small DC/DC converter). This big inverter is mostly for my power tools and will be also for the small 220V fridge (a little bit...

Hi Dave
Íve just got my inverter
It’s a Sumry 6kW but it has no com port

Îm thinking to add one and so I looked inside for an USART connector but none of the free ones are labeled .

Can you say from the picture on what connector is you RS232 interface

Hi Dave. I'm on the way to order the inverter. Would it be possible to get a picture of the remote LCD/LED panel please. I want to make sure, we understand each others correctly with the Chinese seller. :D Do you think of any question I should ask by this time ? It's been so hard to get all detail !...

Hi Dave. when you say RJ11 remote control : Is it LCD or LED because as you can see on the picture there are two RJ11. My seller's photo has a sticker instead of the 3 port. I wanted to upload a photo but can't find how to do it ! I finally got google lens working on my Iphone after a long update (w...

Re: Is anyone using an arc welder with an offgrid system

Hi Dave. From the following link, https://www.tinaja.com/glib/msintro1.pdf I cached these few element : ■ Fewest switch events for highest efficiency. Re: Is anyone using an arc welder with an offgrid system

Hi Dave. Ok, I see, your decision for going with this buy has been well thought. About the Magic Sine Wave, I mainly find mathematical stuff, which I'm not good enough at it to understand. I can't find a real example inverter that would have been made this way ! I don't see the difference with PWM L...

Re: Is anyone using an arc welder with an offgrid system

Dave, You said earlier "I have successfully designed inverters to several kilowatts" <<So, what's the reason that decided you to buy this present LF inverter, instead of building your own ? Your ZOE charger should have an inrush current limiter if well designed ? If so, why didn't you choose an HF i...

Hi Dave.

It seems you are THE man that has faced any offgrid situation !

So unlucky you're not in France anymore, it would have been a pleasure to talk and share with you.

You had a 3.5HP vacuum cleaner ? Even at my factory I don't think we have such a big vacuum cleaner !

Re: Is anyone using an arc welder with an offgrid system

... I have a 200A contactor between the inverter and battery. This is controlled from a FET in my BMS. Uses about 200mA when on. The BMS will cut off the inverter if any cell goes too low ( at the moment I stop at 2.9V but I might reduce that to 2.7V under load). ... Dave Do you cut off the inverte...
