Re: PIP inverter repairs and hardware modifications
I need to know how it measures charge current from solar. The Solar Charge Controller (SCC) has its own 8-bit microcontroller with its own firmware. It sends the PV current to the main DSP in the inverter via an internal serial connection. Once a second, the SCC sends a QGS command to the DSP. The ...

Re: PIP inverter repairs and hardware modifications
Oh I found shunt resistors on an old scc board will check mine Will it help to reload the firmware? Does it also update the scc firmware? No it didn't help I replaced the scc and the other one shows solar charge amps just fine Will sit with the faulty one and compare to another working one to see i...

I checked for very low value resistors in parallel but don't see any.Coulomb wrote:How the SCC microcontroller actually measures the current, I don't know. It's likely a current shunt and operational amplifier.
Unfortunately I don't have another scc to test with

Re: PIP inverter repairs and hardware modifications
Good day I have an Axpert 5KVa 5M inverter. The older ones with the mppt charger on the huge heatsink on top of the inverter I need to know how it measures charge current from solar. While it charges from solar it shows 1A max while measuring with a meter outside it goes up to high charge amps. I do...

Re: PIP inverter repairs and hardware modifications
Hi Can anyone tell me the function of U21. Op amp OP07. It sits just below all the opto drivers . It went up in smoke. I also had to replace all 5 inverter and buck boost IGBTs and some of its drive resistors. Funny thing the driver circuits for Q27 to 30 was also blown . 4 of the diodes and transis...

Re: PIP inverter repairs and hardware modifications
Ok. Inserting an Axpert control card wont work. The footprint is completely different Yes, it's a VM model, but presumably not a VM II (those have 450 V max SCC). The current firmware is U1 20 30 What I have to load is U1 72 70 etc. Im not sure if it will even load and if the inverter will still wo...

Re: PIP inverter repairs and hardware modifications
Hi I replaced Q13 even though it was ok. D13 also ok. C42. C16, C17 also ok I found the 2 bus caps a bit low and replaced them The problem is still there I found on the Axpert service manual that Error 8 can be firmware. The current firmware is U1 20 30 What I have to load is U1 72 70 etc. Im not su...

Re: PIP inverter repairs and hardware modifications
Thank you. It makes sense what you say Normally Q31 blows together with any of the 4 IGBTs on whatever side. In this case it did not and Its the first time in many that I did not replace it I will make work of it and double check its drive circuit and D13. Yes it does use an IGBT with the diode in. ...

Re: PIP inverter repairs and hardware modifications
Good day Im struggling with a inverter called Solar solved Africa VM 5KV 48V. Its the same as the normal Axperts or pips. Just the layout differ I replaced all 16 mosfets on the dc dc side and there was only one 10 ohm resistor fauty in the drive circuits. Also replaced the 5 IGBTs on the other side...

Re: PIP inverter repairs and hardware modifications
I came to the conclusion that the control card or firmware is corrupt. And of coarse Growatt say that they cant help with firmware on such old models I seems like the relays sometimes switch incorrectly. If my old heavy transformer is switched on and this thing stars charging that old inverter goes ...

Re: PIP inverter repairs and hardware modifications
Hi It has a big dual solar charger but it doesn't seem like any AC is going there. Than there is the comms board in front and this little board in the back that looks like a switched power supply, that has thick dc wires going to the battery and all the other wires connecting to it from the main boa...

Re: PIP inverter repairs and hardware modifications
This one only has the 2 sets of H bridge IGBTs. 2 sets of 4. That Q3.. does not exist. It also has no L1 or D13.
That is why I am confused as to how the charging from AC works.

Re: PIP inverter repairs and hardware modifications
The voltages are to low. The 12V is 11.2V. The 15V is 14V. All the capacitors are good If it was just that the voltages are low, I'd suspect the source resistors and components back to the Isense input (R205, R215, R225, C82), or possibly U10 itself. The inverter starts up and works for about 30 se...

Re: PIP inverter repairs and hardware modifications
The reason why this IGBTs blew was because there was a blown miniature resistor(R220) on one of U3 (SG3525) outputs. It would appear that R220 is on the output of U9, not U3. U9 is an SG3525; U3 is an ACPL-T350. Strange that the IGBT blew as a result of a part associated with the 400V-side MOSFETS....

Re: PIP inverter repairs and hardware modifications
I measured all the correct voltages over that zeners and about 19.8V over D1, D2 and D19. This 3 diodes sits directly over the opto drivers supply pins 5 and 8. Are you sure? This would indicate a fairly substantial error in the schematic. I don't have a main-board handy to check at present. I assu...
