Re: 12v Battery when to replace

That's good.
You say 3.5yrs old but it is probably older than that.
I assume you have one of the more recent Zoes which had to be cleaned after the problem on the ship.
Ours was manufactured 2017 and purchased 2018.
It would be interesting to know your manufacture date.

Re: 12v Battery when to replace

I would never use an AGM battery in an ICE. However, under the bonnet in Zoe is fine as it really does not get very warm. I checked the charge curve of the DC-DC converter on the Zoe before I bought the AGM and it was fine. If anything the DC-DC converter is a better fit for AGM than for a flooded b...

Re: Air con issues

I believe 300 Zoes were sold in Australia. This includes the batch that got contaminated with oil (from ICE vehicles on the same ship). That batch was cleaned and eventually sold off for an excellent price. As someone mentioned, most of the Zoes still seem to be going well with few issue so we do no...

Re: 12v Battery when to replace

My AGM continues to be perfect. The DC-DC converter is perfectly okay with it and because the battery is AGM, the phantom drain is almost zero. So, the car can sit for a long time not being charged. I lose about 1% SOC in 6 weeks of no use. I'll let you check dimensions and that the terminal posts a...

Re: OS V10 failures

I dont think we should fully blame the car manufacturers for the speed limit problems. Both my cars (EV and ICE) have problems with speed limit signs, because of poor placement and/or poor sign technology. A 60km/hr sign on an off ramp should not be visible from the highway, roadwork signs should b...

Re: Superchargers planned/under construction

It sounds as if you are worse off than the East for Superchargers (I seem to have heard that general East/West sentiment often when I used to frequently travel to WA for work). It also seems like Plugshare for your Superchargers needs updating. However, good that the public infrastructure seems bett...

Which SC site in WA is locked over night? Plugshare says each of your 6 sites is 24/7 access.

Re: Superchargers planned/under construction

Yes, Australia wide. No idea at all on accessibility. Over here in NSW most seem accessible at all hours. I have only heard of 1 or 2 exceptions. As for non-Tesla, there are Evies near us which close when the shops close. So a lot depends where charging companies can find a spot with sufficient powe...

Re: Right Hand Lane

It's why I dont engage the aggressive modes in FSD. Interesting. I did not think FSD was operational in Australia, except on a handful of Tesla employee cars for testing purposes. Are you one of these? Even though people have purchased it, my understanding was that it is not approved (in Australia)...

Re: Superchargers planned/under construction

Don't know what you mean about "universal units", but if you mean able to charge other EVs then that is just controlled by software. There is a very up to date and well maintained list on the TMC forum at: https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/supercharger-australian-index.97749/ That sh...

Re: Dealerships - to have or not

I think most passenger vehicles should expect 80,000 km from a set of tyres. Find the sweet spot between price, longevity and grip. Interesting! Over a period of almost 60 years and approx 1 million kms, frequently with two cars, usually passenger vehicles, I would have been lucky to get any more t...

Re: Ionic 5 battery breakdown

Rather than unsealed roads, I would attribute this debacle to the dealer. The protective cover has very minor abrasions and to not remove it for a physical battery inspection is incompetent. I suspect the dealer was hoping to get a big chunk of money from the manufacturer to perform (possibly) an un...

Yes, Tesla has done a good job with SC rollouts this year.
Being able to vote for SC locations is also handy.
Thank goodness for their very high reliability.

No, sorry, cannot remember.

I did have the URL sitting around for months but then decided I would not be getting one because we only use Zoe within about 150km of town & the Tesla for all long trips.

Re: Zoe - ESC Failure, Motor Failure, BMS comms error christmas tree

I had a lot of trouble when my OnePlus died and I got a new Pixel. Could not get the Pixel to work with CanZE due to Bluetooth problems. So I had been using my wife's older OnePlus 6 successfully. Then, suddenly recently the Pixel started working. I think after a major Android update. Being on the E...

Re: AVASS cells 2nd lot

Success! To recap, my 8 pack of AVASS 400 Ah cells was down to 300 Ah because of one cell. I purchased a cheapish 100 Ah LFP cell, charged it to about 80 Ah and wired it in parallel to the poor cell. Charging the pack at 100A, I have checked and due to internal resistances and the wiring, one third ...

Re: 12v Battery when to replace

When mine went bad, it still passed the 80A test. However, there was constant charge loss from the battery which caused the main battery to deplete by 1% every one or two days. My average usage went through the roof to 20kWh/100km. I still have that battery and use it for my spot welder. However the...

Re: 12v Battery when to replace

I'd forgotten about it fitting the Kona. That's great.

Tesla now uses Li batteries (not LFP) but older ones such as my 2021 3LR have AGM batteries which seem to last a reasonable time.

Starter batteries in EVs are really not the best fit.

Cheers,

Re: 12v Battery when to replace

Well, I'm still delighted with my AGM (details at the start of this thread). It was never listed for Zoe. I checked the CCA, internal resistance, physical dimensions to come up with the AGM which I used. I would definitely do the same again and for myself, would not put in a standard starter battery...

Re: Wind generator for suburban site

I'm still deciding. It does still work, but needs some TLC.
I had considered removing the carbon fibre blades and selling them plus I think I have a spare set tucked away.
The bearings need replacement and the paint/powder-coating is flaking off.
I'll have a think about it.....
