synthetic transmission oil-educate me!

... CASTROL SYNTRANS 75W/85 For competition applications where superior synchroniser performance ... Don't know if it applies to trans oil, but some competition motor oils might lubricate better, but don't have any additives (or whatever) that help with long life. - they really are for one race day...

Elation Bikes - anyone used their kit?

Wouldn't mind getting hold of a kit actually - anyone got any leads? I still have mine sitting around, would be happy to clear up the space. I assume it is a mark 1. I needed to realign the motor so I figured rather than just loosen it I'd take it off to stick some frameskins on to protect the fram...

70 mph Prius - Wakefield followup

Will have to look at what the Orion BMS is about... AFAIK, currently NilCO2 use the Enginer kit, http://www.enginer.us/ Supposedly OK up to 70kmh, but it seems you need to drive like a snail to stop the ICE cutting in. I think a local has one fitted, I'm keen to talk to them. Higher speed would be g...

Plug-in conversion kit for Prius - NilCO2 kit?

I'm tempted to get one of these kits too.... but as it would be mainly used by the teen queen, sensible drving might not happen. I'm wondering if anyone will get the kits ( with ECU mods?) that allow speeds up to 110kmh on electric only. I posted something on that down here: http://forums.aeva.asn.a...

70 mph Prius - Wakefield followup

Hi, one of the topics discussed at Wakefield park today. Said I'd post some links here, so hope they are found. 70 mph Priuses ie, extra batteries, and software changes so it will run electric only for faster and further. I know some extra battery options are available here in Aust. but the higher s...

well at least they do have rec rego. I understand that the Zero bikes were able to use this ( some now have ADR). The primitive states to the north don't have anything so useful Image

Range Anxiety killed the EV1?

Man, that EV1 sounds like it was great. 160+km of range! I could get everywhere I need to go and back with that sort of range, no worries. "...why not? With NiMH batteries, the EV1 has a 140 mile range!" So they did have NiMH. I saw somewhere ( it is probably also mentioned on this forum.. ) who ha...

Could be the start of a new era? FE not F1

Well, I'm no techo, so whatever works... And no need to limit it to one. Karts, kids classes, bucket classes, plus something like Vee ( Or F-Ford ) Or, even something new, like this, intended to be a later / better / cheaper equivalent of the F-Ford RCR Nemesis . Or better yet, get a few University ...

Could be the start of a new era? FE not F1

$40 million bucks wasted on this: 40 million wasted on F1 Think of what you could do for Formula Electric with $40 Million! (and that was for only one state, one race !) You could create a number of Aussie formulas, better yet, have small/ cheap classes ( eCarts, maybe) to have a lot more people dri...

EV's in magazines

I guess in this internet age you could consider Gizmag a daily magazine. Go to the site and sign yourself up for the bits that you like. Nearly every day has EV's, battery research, smart grids, PV, etc. Also DIRT Action dirt bike magazine has a test of the Zero. Issue 126, November 2009. They had a...

Electric dirt bike -

So caught up with the Zero, I'd forgotten about the Blade! www.electricmoto.com
And I didn't even know about the Quantya

They all seem to have DC motors, surely this is an application that would be worth an AC ?

Still, none are available here with road rego ability, so I'll keep looking...

EV Run to Canberra AGM 2009

There's getting to be a few. I think 2 Detroit electrics. 2 or 3 local conversions, the Tesla, a 1930 Peugeot, one of those little Sinclair plastic trike things.... a couple of modified hybrids... various bikes ( with luck, a Stealth..... ) And, if you happen to be passing Wakefield park on the Satu...

Electric dirt bike -

Hi all, I'd best stop lurking and start posting. I'm not ready to do a car yet, but have got an e-bicycle going. Next - something like a 250 trail bike. I would pretty much have been happy to buy a Zero X - considering we now have an Aussie importer. www.zeromotorcycles.com/au/ But the dirt bike at ...

Elation Bikes - anyone used their kit?

Yeah, I have had one fitted and in use for about a month now. It's working, but taking a while to learn how to use it most effectively. Mostly to work about 35k round trip, including a killer hill. It seems to pedal about as well as it did before on flat and even slight rises. At this stage I only u...
