Re: 1,000kms in 5 days

Hi Tom, I am embarrassed to say I have not checked them so they are whatever they were when delivered! On my to-do list. I have a range of charging options. That which I use the most is my OpenEVSE three phase 22kW charger in conjunction with the Zoe Type2 cable One amp increments 6-32A and three p...

Re: 2018 Nissan Leaf!

Well looks like it is selling for $54,500- $55,500 (NSW on road). I guess that puts it between the Ionig EV and the Kona EV in both price and battery size. It appears that some sort of announcement has been made that the old LEAF (if bought new in Australia) can get the battery replaced for $9,500 p...

https://insideevs.com/bmw-2019-i3-i3s-42-2-kwh-battery/ That should be enough to do 220 km around town, and a comfortable 180 km on the highway. Wonder if they offer battery upgrades... Re: 2018 Nissan Leaf!

I see someone suggesting a RRP of $42,000 ..... my guess given Nissan's original pricing for the original Leaf would be well into the $60,000s and probably nearer $70,000 for the 60kw version. Of more interest to me is the NV2000 which reportedly got 40kw from earlier this year. Whether or not it w...

Nissan dealers are quoting owners in Australia about $34,000 AUD to replace worn out battery packs. Do they really think they are going to sell the new model here?

Just make sure you camp on top of a hill. You should get plenty of regen going back down.

Re: Battery Modules Questions.

"And yes, refrigerant to chill the water going through the battery pack is how you keep it close to 25'C on a 45'C day." And that is the problem. My battery would be flat before it is time to drive home. This could be the biggest nail in the coffin for electric cars, without a better solution. I do ...

Re: Battery Modules Questions.

How do you keep them below 45 'C , when the temperature is 45 "C. This is a problem for all batteries unless someone comes up with better chemistry. I need something reliable from -10 'C to + 50 'C ( but this could change with climate change). I know , I am dreaming, but this is reality.

Re: Non OEM Leaf battery upgrade?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-ka4-mG_0I In this video the guy explains how retaining the vehicle's original BMS was the easiest way to keep the vehicle's onboard computer happy. So I might try and re-pack a Leaf battery with a new BMS and wiring, but have it so you can swap the BMS at the last ...

Re: Non OEM Leaf battery upgrade?

192 E63 LG Batteries (the ones Francisco is using) can be made to fit in a leaf battery box. I guess that makes the battery pack twice the original capacity.
Possibly premade packs. 10 packs x 18 batteries and 2 packs of 6 x batteries

Re: 7kW vehicles using 3-phase sockets

So long as there is a current interrupt in the line, it should be okay. My understanding of AS3000 says you can't have a 32 A supply and a 15 A socket without a 15 A MCB/RDC in line. Otherwise you could plug a 25 A appliance in, roast the 15 A cable section and nothing will trip. So why would a 25 ...

Re: Ultra fast chargers (350kW/HPC) in Victoria

I understand the logic of the spacing between fast chargers on major roads. When demand becomes higher , in the future, rather than double the number of chargers at these locations, wouldn't it be better to locate extra chargers in between?
