Chevy Volt Meets High Resistance, GM Suspends Sale

No wonder I'm skeptical! GM are not really trying that hard are they? If the sales figures have dropped by that much in 2012, what does it tell you? Bring the damn price down!!!!!! People are always going to compare apples with apples, not bananas. Only the people who can afford to buy a expensive t...

Hey t, A thought just occured to me. Pretend you've been considering a Ferrari. Now, head on down there and buy 2 Commodores and 2 Kia's. Bargain!    http://forums.aeva.asn.au/smileys/smiley36.gif LOL! I think you better help Johnny find that key so you can both climb back into that closet! If the ...

That Holden Commodore Equipe is looking mighty good value at the moment. I could buy a Commodore and another KIA Rio for the same price as an iMiev, that's crazy.Image

Well guys you might want to redo your calculations because I just got a quote for an iMiev here in Adelaide at Australian Motors for $52,990 including on road costs. Oh yes and you'll have to pay an Electrician to install a 15amp socket in your garage.

Crushing Old Cars

Weren't we all saying the electric car would be on the road in 2012? Or have we moved the goal posts again? :) They are on the road, and have been for over a year in some countries. Australia gets left behind because there is no government incentive to bring them here. When they do arrive, they wil...

Making EVs commercially in AU: If not NOW, When?

The average monthly price for Adelaide Metro (Dec 2011) was $1.39 but in 1990 I remember petrol prices of under $0.60/L, how about an average over 22 years? I've replaced the battery 3 times, a new alternator and of course servicing charges. Tyres would cancel out because EVs need them too. Its inte...

OK then, revised sums: Buy the Commodore: $35K Drive it 100,000km over 22 years at 15 L/100km @ $1.50/L = 1000 *15 * 1.5 = $22.5K Total: $57.5K Buy iMiev: $49K Drive it 100Mm over 22 years at 125Wh/km at $0.10/kWh = 100 * 125 * 0.10 = $1,250; Battery at 10 years: $5K Total: $55,250 Buy Leaf: $52K D...

How long do you expect to keep the car ? How many kilometres do you drive a year ? How much would you expect to sell the car for? Do some sums: Buy the Commodore: $35K Drive it 100,000km over 3 years at 15 L/100km @ $1.50/L = 1000 *15 * 1.5 = $22.5K Sell the Commodore: -$15K Total: $42.5k I've had ...

Hi tdean http://forums.aeva.asn.au/smileys/smiley1.gif What you say makes sense to me. I can't build EV's so I ordered one some time ago and it should arrive sometime soon. That's a Blade Electron Mk 6. Congratulations for taking the plunge. I'll be interested to hear about your experience with the...

Edited: 09.16 Hi tdean, You've been on this forum for some years. Something must have changed for you in the interim. You ain't no greenie, nor an ev enthusiast. You're just the opposite point of view. There's no getting around it. As you say, there's nothing wrong with that. I just need to respond...

Hi tdean, Last thing from me on these few things, you still frequent AEVA. What is it you would be looking for? Like I said, it depends on the price, reliability, convenience, usability, warranty/support. I just had a look and a basic Holden Commodore Special Edition Equipe is selling for $34,990, ...

But now, to the crux of the matter. How cheap would a battery car have to be for you to consider it? If it couldn't have a range of any less than 200km, when would you expect to get one? If you don't expect to get one, I will tend to respond to your 'established' view, because that is not what I'm ...

A couple of years, ago, never forgetting the disaster at Bhopal, and how, a few years before that, the camera makers all changed to AA's for some unknown reason, before switching back to rechargeables, I looked into rechargeable AA's and AAA's. Eventually I settled for the white Panasonic rechargea...

I sort of assume you have some commonality with my point of view, your being on this forum, even if only in a small way. I'm not sure what that is right now. If you just like the mechanics of ev's which I also do, then that explains it. First, I dont think there are any rules of the AEVA that says ...

No, I dont build EV's at all. Conservation is not really an issue for me at the moment. If its legal I'm happy to drive it which only leaves price, reliability, convenience and usability as my major requirements. :) I dont spend all my time under the bonnets of cars, well not anymore. They are just ...

Let's face it, battery-swapping would be handy on occasion, but who really wants an electric version of fuel stations. We ALL know what the free market does to us "consumers" once they've locked us in. What's worse, is "this" battery a good-one, or has it been giving trouble? Thats a good point. If...

Hi, I cant see it happening anytime soon. The idea that we'll all be running around in EV's is just a pipe dream. The car industry is under enormous pressure now, cars are not selling like they have. The Holden Commodore got toppled the other day by the drift to four cyclinder runabouts. Its not bec...

I just went for a drive in the IMIEV

A friend of my wife works at Mitsubishi Adelaide, and I was lucky enough to sit in the IMIEV while she test drove it. Followed up with a test drive of my EV for comparison. I also narrowly avoided the first EV-EV collision - the IMIEV nearly hit me in the car park! David Talk about being in the rig...
