Re: Imiev Battery For sale

Hi Doug,
\We are interested in the battery if it is still complete .
We are three Melbourne iMiEV owners who want to make sure both 2010 and 2012 iMiEvs will accept batteries from an other car.
The next step will be to replace the cells and do the same tests.
Is it still for sale?
regards

Re: Low Cost BMS for Home Storage Batteries

Are there any balancing circuits with a dc-dc converters instead of resistors that transfers the energy to the other cells? Interesting question. Actually I would be interested in a step further, to divert the shunted power to a second device. It still would charge up the lower cells but not waste ...

134km Gom when travelling at 60-80kmh
Warm weather
Else 90km gom at 100kmh
1 year new batt from Mitsubishi
Almost 40k kms since November 2017
That's a lot of km in a year!
I guess your signature should read
"2011 i-MiEV - 158k kms Nov 2018" if you did 40k in the last 12 months.

Re: Aftermarket iMiEV battery upgrade project

. In practice, we never exceed the battery range in either car for all our local driving and only use petrol on a longer trip out of town. Horses for courses. That is why I am still very happy with mine. The long trips we do are towing a small van anyway,so no chance of using an EV. But I am still ...

Re: Aftermarket iMiEV battery upgrade project

My 2012 iMiEV only ever did around 100km when new to us 5 years ago and now typically in the 90s. When you click the quote button you get the whole post quoted but then you can delete some of it as I did above. You just have to leave the beginning and ending bits between the square brackets alone. ...

Re: Aftermarket iMiEV battery upgrade project

To the best of my knowledge, nobody has yet hacked the onboard computer to convince it to recognize a non-standard battery. Mitsubishi appears to have a good handle on VIN locking and there hasn't been any real progress on overcoming the obstacle... If drop-in replacement cells could be found, I do...

Re: Aftermarket iMiEV battery upgrade project

My 2010 iMiEV has suffered a bit this last winter. Struggling to get more than 90 km. I'm waiting (hoping) for some smart chap to confirm in real life experience, that cell replacement is practical. If the 100 Ah cells fit, that would be a real bonus, if they degrade to half in a few years, it would...

Re: Low Cost BMS for Home Storage Batteries

I haven't done anything further yet, other projects have taken priority. I hope to get back to it within a couple of months. Next step is to compile a list of the components. Once I have that I'll get a quote for board manufacture, and I'll be able to work out a price. Then we can order enough for ...

Re: Low Cost BMS for Home Storage Batteries

I've done some work on the BMS module board to fit the Brighsun cells. Here is the version I made for my car: CellTopBMS-SE130AHA_1.jpg I had some notes on this version: 1. The board was a bit wide at the terminals. Some boards had to be trimmed a bit narrower to sit on top of a certain type of bat...

Re: jonescg's home battery storage system

Thanks Chris. I will do as you suggest (Not busting tight, just tight enough that you can't move the jig up and down once clamped). I had a another look at the Brighsun 460 Ah specification ,I thought there was more info than just this Capacity 460 Ah Nominal Voltage 3.2 V Minimum Voltage 2.2 V Maxi...

Re: jonescg's home battery storage system

Yeah compression is a good thing, but you don't need to go overboard. The cells I have are 'constrained' but I wouldn't say they were compressed. Hi all, back in Melbourne after a very warm autumn in Switzerland. Re my lithium cells ,should I be worried??? I started to assemble my set of AVASS cell...

I am interested to hear from any one in Melbourne who...

Re: jonescg's home battery storage system

Re: Aftermarket iMiEV battery upgrade project

A 20 kWh iMiEV is actually quite reasonable considering they were never exactly a highway cruiser... I'd be much more interested in a cheap 20kwh i-miEv than an expensive 47kwh one. We rarely do more than 50km/day. Most of the longer trips we use the ICE for also require more space, comfort and gro...

Re: jonescg's home battery storage system

The standard advice in the early days of LiFePO₄ was that all cells had to be upright all the time. The reasoning was to do with stratification of the electrolyte. But there is almost no free electrolyte in the cells, and now it seems that the advice is that any orientation other than vent down is ...

Re: jonescg's home battery storage system

I'm not too keen on your wiring panel at the top of the rack being made out of wood. It looks like at least one line is actually mounted to it through your brass bar. Wood absorbs moisture. I'd replace only that part with acrylic or polycarb or use another iso mount bar. Otherwise very nice 8-) I h...

Is the turtle exclusive to the i-MiEV or carried over from the i? Never had it come on in ours, even when it had obviously gone into a reduced power mode. Is there any official documentation about it from Mitsubishi? I think I looked in the handbook and didn't find anything. The turtle is definitel...

Has LEV 50 N since I changed the pack in December Didn’t know that the 2012 has LEV 50 N cells. The only reason I believe the 2012 has the "N" cells is because I read articles telling that Yuasa had a lot of complaints with the LEV50s and made improvements that supposedly were used for the 2012 iMi...

Re: iMiev Recall notice

My dad did the roll down the driveway while plugged in trick too. In his case the evse still had power. That is why I think it is a design fault ( omission) to not have an interlock between the "ready condition" and the gear stick (and hand brake?). I recognize that it is mechanically more involved...
