Re: AEVA Websites upgraded to new, faster servers

[So hopefully, we're over it now, or at least the worst of it.
Got a fright last night as the website brought up errors left right and center.
I feared my compi was hacked!!!!!
But all is sweet and fine now, yep looks good.

Re: Replacement Battery Options for 2012 i-MiEV?

i agree, the disks and pdf's are no better than the russian website!
I found this website selling what I assume to be exactly the same as is on the disk but in PDF or html format. I think it might be worth getting if it really has all the nitty gritty available but not if it is just the sam...

http://mmc-manuals.ru/manuals/i-miev/online/Service_Manual/2013/index_M1.htm Thanks for the link. Plenty of useful stuff in English. Unfortunately my Russian is non-existing. I wonder how much information is in the Russian section? A friend of mine thinks he may be able to get our discs to read, no...

Re: Solar panels on an EV roof

You can tap into the fast charge relay and trigger it to close manually, which closes the fast charge contactor's and gives a direct connection to the pack from the chademo port. It might confuse the state of charge calculation if the EV ECU isn't active and monitoring current flows though. But I c...

Re: Replacement Battery Options for 2012 i-MiEV?

The new battery packs have LEV50N cells which require software updates to the BMU and then calibration with the CMU's. Nicely packaged on a CD but useless unless you have an MUT-III diagnostic tool and the applicable modules for I-Miev. A related question: I have two Car service Manuals discs MITSU...

Re: Solar panels on an EV roof

I'd look at a boost unit to lift the voltage up to the required charging voltage for the on board battery as you already have that and it is the item you want to recharge in the long run anyway. The LG 360w panels are good but they are heavy. A 2.5 times voltage booster would give you roughly enoug...

Re: Imiev Battery For sale

Hi Doug,
\We are interested in the battery if it is still complete .
We are three Melbourne iMiEV owners who want to make sure both 2010 and 2012 iMiEvs will accept batteries from an other car.
The next step will be to replace the cells and do the same tests.
Is it still for sale?
regards

Re: Low Cost BMS for Home Storage Batteries

Are there any balancing circuits with a dc-dc converters instead of resistors that transfers the energy to the other cells? Interesting question. Actually I would be interested in a step further, to divert the shunted power to a second device. It still would charge up the lower cells but not waste ...

Almost 40k kms since November 2017
That's a lot of km in a year!
I guess your signature should read
"2011 i-MiEV - 158k kms Nov 2018" if you did 40k in the last 12 months.

Re: Aftermarket iMiEV battery upgrade project

. In practice, we never exceed the battery range in either car for all our local driving and only use petrol on a longer trip out of town. Horses for courses. That is why I am still very happy with mine. The long trips we do are towing a small van anyway,so no chance of using an EV. But I am still ...

Re: Aftermarket iMiEV battery upgrade project

My 2012 iMiEV only ever did around 100km when new to us 5 years ago and now typically in the 90s. When you click the quote button you get the whole post quoted but then you can delete some of it as I did above. You just have to leave the beginning and ending bits between the square brackets alone. ...

Re: Aftermarket iMiEV battery upgrade project

To the best of my knowledge, nobody has yet hacked the onboard computer to convince it to recognize a non-standard battery. Mitsubishi appears to have a good handle on VIN locking and there hasn't been any real progress on overcoming the obstacle... If drop-in replacement cells could be found, I do...

Re: Aftermarket iMiEV battery upgrade project

My 2010 iMiEV has suffered a bit this last winter. Struggling to get more than 90 km. I'm waiting (hoping) for some smart chap to confirm in real life experience, that cell replacement is practical. If the 100 Ah cells fit, that would be a real bonus, if they degrade to half in a few years, it would...

Re: Low Cost BMS for Home Storage Batteries

I haven't done anything further yet, other projects have taken priority. I hope to get back to it within a couple of months. Next step is to compile a list of the components. Once I have that I'll get a quote for board manufacture, and I'll be able to work out a price. Then we can order enough for ...

Re: Low Cost BMS for Home Storage Batteries

I've done some work on the BMS module board to fit the Brighsun cells. Here is the version I made for my car: CellTopBMS-SE130AHA_1.jpg I had some notes on this version: 1. The board was a bit wide at the terminals. Some boards had to be trimmed a bit narrower to sit on top of a certain type of bat...

Re: jonescg's home battery storage system

Yeah compression is a good thing, but you don't need to go overboard. The cells I have are 'constrained' but I wouldn't say they were compressed. Hi all, back in Melbourne after a very warm autumn in Switzerland. Re my lithium cells ,should I be worried??? I started to assemble my set of AVASS cell...

Re: Aftermarket iMiEV battery upgrade project

A 20 kWh iMiEV is actually quite reasonable considering they were never exactly a highway cruiser... I'd be much more interested in a cheap 20kwh i-miEv than an expensive 47kwh one. We rarely do more than 50km/day. Most of the longer trips we use the ICE for also require more space, comfort and gro...
