Electric Vehicle DRAFT standards released

The term "DRAFT" is more related to the process of adoption/ratification of these international documents into Standards Australia library. The proposed standards are existing published documents from ISO/IEC working groups. AEVA has had representation at all the steering group meetings (via me) sin...

DMOC repair

Hi Chris, Generally I am not a regular participant of this forum. Someone else from the Sydney AEVA branch spotted this posting and referred it onto me. The Sydney branch of AEVA regularly met almost every week socially on Tuesday nights, typically we start at one of the members garages or workshop ...

EVs with fast charge capability.

The Australian Tesla dealer demonstarted the car with the optional fast charge lead that connects to a standard Australian 3 phase 32A socket. He then informed me that the system only draws current from only 1 of the 3 phases.

3D software modelling

There are plenty of 3D modelling software applications available today. What options do people use and recommend on their EV project? Some of the most popular 3D design packages for both the Mac and Windows can be quite expensive and very complicated for the beginner. If your not a student and want ...

Range Extender

Why consider using a genset on a trailer to extend the range? When you don’t have an unlimited battery budget but still want an EV, compromise means getting a smaller battery pack. The target range of 100km per charge on just the batteries will get me to 95% of the places I take a car. But what to d...

Australia Day - Billy Cart Derby 2010

Hi All, calling all boy(girl) racers! Whilst not exactly electric powered, this is a good chance for a few of the Sydney EV families to meet before school returns. Next weekend Merrylands RSL is organising a billy kart race day on Australia Day 26th Jan 10am-12noon. Both Mark T and I have registered...

100kW AC Inverter Project (Opensource)

This sounds like a project with my name on it. http://forums.aeva.asn.au/smileys/smiley1.gif Currently I am comparing this "DYI" against modifying a industrial VFD to EV. Right now I am busy working on a GSM/3G telemetry system, so should have time to start this over Christmas. Initial trials on a t...

range extenders???

There are a few examples thus far in the US. I too have been considering this concept and acknowledge that there are pros and cons to the idea. For the practicality of doing the odd trip across town and worried about range I would hitch the trailer and accept the inefficient for the price of using o...
