Nissan leaf 2g/3g switch

Thanks for the heads up. Was it resolved? Apart from the fact this system is covered under warranty, the main reason to have this is for remote climate control and alerts when the car is charged, so it would be pretty useless if it doesn't work after the upgrade. I'll make sure to check it after the...

Brusa charger in my LEAF

Thanks for clarifying, from the article it seemed like you were charging at 16A, but if you can actually charge higher, then that is excellent. So if you pull up to a Charge Point with 2 * J1772 are you getting the full 16A from each or was one only 10A, ie: total of 32A or 26A? I can't see any link...

I don't understand the point of this. Wouldn't any commercial EVSE be able to charge at 16Amps? Or does this allow you to plug two 240v 10A cords in? Them you have the risk that both are on the same circuit (very likely in a house) and trip the circuit breaker. From a point of view "I did it", it is...

The letter arrived last week. Leaf booked in for 27th Feb, can't wait to get the mobile system working again. Dealer has allowed a day because they haven't done any yet. Hope it is just a 15 minute job as I need to charge the Leaf for at least 3 hours to get home again.

I'm sure you will love the Leaf. So long as you understand the range and the fact it will have some battery degradation over time. There will be a registration information for the car, so you can see the date of registration. That is when the warranty period starts. Battery warranty is a Nissan warr...

That sounds like a good plan. If the vehicle was first registered recently then your 5yr battery warranty would have started then, I wondered if that was one reason the dealers were not interested to drop their prices and move this stock because they know there is greater chance of battery swap unde...

Hey, that's great. Maybe you should think about mixed graph style. Your projected range would be the line graph, and then do a stacked bar graph for to/from work, then it is easy to see the total range you drove plus the difference to the projected range. If charge is a different value, plot that on...

You might have noticed already, Daylesford now has an EVSE out the front of their town hall. I'm going to take a drive over and check it out at some stage. Not sure where in Melbourne you are, but if you wanted to go to Daylesford for a trip (about 110km from CBD), you could contact Pheonix Park in ...

Leaf Range *no discussion*

After 4 months of ownership, the vehicle has done 25,562km, here are some stats about my range. Note the values represent Wall to Wheels consumption, the Leaf can only show Battery to Wheels consumptions, so while my Kw/Km is 0.197, the Leaf shows it is 0.15 on the Dashboard display. I'm only really...

Incredible that dealers still have a few new Leaf (if you can think 2012 model is new) and they still have ~$40k price. Some are getting close to $25k, which is where they should be after 4 years, even if they are basically new the reality is the batteries are degraded and the model is sure to chang...

Still waiting for a response from Nissan about what is going to happen with 2G service. Can only hope that it does get updated sooner rather than later, but given this information has been known for 6-12 months and with 1 month to go we have not received any recall letters, it is hard to believe it ...

In case anyone is watching these posts, I redrove the trip from Ballarat to Melbourne, with the same recharge stop half way (mitigating range anxiety still). This time it is a warmer time of the year, so I think that definitely makes a difference, although I think it is slight. Going to Melbourne I ...

Telstra 2G shutdown

I have had notice that Telstra is closing the 2G service in December. I am led to understand that the Nissan Leaf uses the 2G service to communicate with the car, so I have send an email to Nissan asking them what the situation is and what is proposed to resolve this if Nissan Leaf is affected. My c...

CarWings SMS update?

Can anyone confirm if they can receive SMS updates from their Leaf, eg: when the car finishes charging it will send you an SMS? Nissan Australia told me that they set it up for me a week ago, then yesterday they told me it does not work in Australia. That is a real pity, 4 years on and these feature...

According to Nissan Leaf Range Estimator app I should have been able to get 110km (nice app, it uses Google Maps to work out elevations and then estimates the energy usage), and I needed to go 95-98km. This was my first drive and I got just about 1/2 way and had 37% SOC left. When I left it was 93.4...

leaf GPS charging stations

I know this is an old thread, but it would be nice to know how Nissan update the location of Charge Stations in CarWings. There are two new Charge Stations near me and they appear on PlugShare.com but not on the Nissan Charger Map. Maybe they figure people will just use PlugShare so they don't waste...

Hmm, wasn't really thinking about home servicing, more like not servicing annually rather than 6 monthly (after the warranty runs out). Personally I have always gotten my cars serviced as per the manufacturers schedule, and at the dealership I purchased from (rural town so not much choice with the d...

I think after the warranty expires I will be the same, but what is the risk of a warranty job and they knock you back because you did not do the service sschedule?

What EVSE to replace dead Origin/ChargePoint?

Thanks lesmando, contrary to the information I received it looks like there is certification. Or do they get them certified here? Anyway, that is the one I am planning to get. I also like the Kebo with separate cable as that gives easy options in the future. Base EVSE that came with the vehicle is d...

I like the idea of "NO FOOL", sort of a play on the no fuel but also a slur on the ICE drivers.

Think the numbers are wrong. 24Kw Leaf is rated for 84Miles and 30Kw Leaf is rated for 110Miles, not 100 and 200 miles. The 200 mile range is expected with Leaf 2.0, Chevy Bolt (note not Volt which is hybrid) and Tesla Model 3, possibly others over the next year or two. One week of ownership and I g...

If the cars have been sitting for 3-4 years and battery has not been maintained, then quick loss would be expected. Dealers typically fully charged the batteries, had a short test drive then sit in the lot for months, worst case for the battery longevity. We can only hope the battery loses 4 bars be...

Nissan's 544km long range Nissan Leaf

Battery tech is improving at the moment, it seems to be in a cycle of significant increase right now. The Leaf in the video certainly has a different treatment to the front styling, so it could be that the car is real but not ready for prime time. For example, maybe the battery is unstable in some w...

If Nissan ran out their excess stock at $25k I don't think they would have any left. I wonder if they still have an excess stock? Probably don't want to sell them in any case, 5yr battery warranty would most definitely kick in on these cars given how long they have been sitting.
