Re: Wanting to get my iMiEV serviced. Advice?

i noticed a steady drop of about 10km of range over a few weeks, was thinking we had a dead or dying cell, nope, just tyres losing air pressure. pumped back to recommended pressures, back to 100Km range every morning again.. as for the bars randomly dropping off or coming back during the day, our di...

Re: i-miev DC/DC converter failure, not what we expected.

it is, i have asked Greg if i can borrow his portable chedemo to try it later, so see how that goes, another question has arisen, are the 2010 Japanese models 110 Volt or 240? considering the 2010 models were J spec cars imported by mitsubishi, i am 99% sure its 240, but there is that 1% doubt.

Re: i-miev DC/DC converter failure, not what we expected.

Sadly the only Chademo near us is the NRMA charger at Olympic park, if we drive it there, we would need it to work otherwise it gets towed home. we are moving house soon, so we have to get it back together and drive it to our new place with whats left in the battery, still about 75% full. and its a ...

Re: i-miev DC/DC converter failure, not what we expected.

Ok, an update. I think board with the blown resistor has been bonded to the water cooling layer of the DC/DC Converter, it does not appear to want to budge, and I do not want to break it. Possibly it could be attached from underneath, but it does not appear so. We drained the coolant, and then remov...

Re: I-MiEVs for sale

thats not to good, when we got our 2010, it hadnt been modified to use public J1772 chargers, it has since been modified, a pretty easy 1 hour job, and works fine on public J1772 plugs now. ours also had seriously worn tyres as well, but a quick online search found some suppliers for expected costs ...

i-miev DC/DC converter failure, not what we expected.

Ok, well there's your problem. Anyway, strap in, this is going to be long. So to begin with about a month and a half ago we went to go to the shops in our iMiEV and as we turned out of our street, we noted that the car had not charged fully, and that we had the red 12v battery warning light as well ...

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

im not sure if the ECU was part of the recall, im sure if it was, then we would have a good chance of getting it under goodwill warranty, but if its not covered by the recall, then i dont think we have much of a leg to stand on.

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

Gday, we get our i-miev back tomorrow.. the story so far, it had a high voltage system and low volatage system warning light and would not charge from AC. took car to dealer, told them its the DC/DC converter, and asked for the error codes from the service reader, they told us it was the Battery ECU...

Re: I-MiEVs for sale

We have a 2010 model, it has the Chademo and normal AC charger, and yes, we have the issue with the dead DC/DC converter.. $4500 replacement. apart from that, the cars are fine. ours still has 90Km of range even though its a 2010 model.

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

Is VIN locking an issue with the electronics in recent model non-EV cars? im not exactly sure, but i would image it happens to things like engine ECU components also, initial timeline for our replacement was August! bugger, but friday arvo, was told by the service manager, it will now be June 7th. ...

Could you boys do a wonderful service and attempt to find out which of the new ev's coming onto the market have this vin locking, or similar thing? Please. Pretty please ?? It is very important. We should decide not to buy any model with this sort of anti-competitive approach. I thought modern corp...

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

If you look in the myimiev forum there are a few owners with Mut 3 devices. I believe they are available for well south of $1k however be sure to get one that someone has used on a iMiEV. I seem to remember someone from AEVA in WA has a Mut 3, not that its probably any use to you in NSW however the...

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

Took the i-miev to Mitsubishi today to pay them to get the error codes, and yes, there are 26 errors, and the technicians still have no idea what they mean, so the car is still there, the bad part is, YES, i-miev parts ARE VIN locked, as are Outlander PHEV EV components.. fantastic.. Extortion locke...

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

yeah, i read that thread on the French I-miev page, but cannot find any evidence that this is the case with i-miev parts. its the only place i can find anything about that. but if the only problem is a fuse, or failed resistor, it might be a quick cheap fix

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

After a bit more research, we are obviously not the only ones with this issue, but a French Canadian had a similar issue, but Mitsubishi there had a more technically minded tech, and diagnosed a blown fuse in the main charging inverter, a $19USD part and 3 hrs labour to replace. http://myimiev.com/f...

Re: iMiev Recall notice

Another very late update on the recall, with the motor software, and yep, i thought the car was ready, it wasnt, the charger was still plugged in, hand brake off, put it in E, foot off the brake, BANG! ripped the charge plug out.... not much damage to the car, but the plug is no longer a snug fit in...

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

also, some additional info, we have noticed in the last week or so, the battery level meter, on the Left hand side . (the 16 blocks) has been doing strange stuff, some days, its as normal, and drops at a rate of about 1 block every 5 to 7 km, and still giving us a guestimated range of about 90Km. ye...

well, today, we have had an identical problem with our 2010 i-miev, got in to drive it, started normal, drove normal, everything worked fine, air con, everything, though i noticed it was still at about 70% charge from the day before, i assumed that the plug in our off peak had fallen out, or i forgo...
